Overview
About Me
I live in a big ol' farmhouse in rural Maine with my partner, rabbit, dog, ducks, chickens, geese, and 5 other lovely humans. Before this I lived in Downeast Maine, and before that I lived in Oaxaca, Mexico for 2 years, and before that spent a year in Honduras&Guatemala, and before that was in Burlington, VT for 6 years, and spent the 18 years before that growing up in southern Maine. I always knew I'd end up back here, but it was still a difficult choice to leave Mexico. Oaxaca shall own a chunk of my heart for the rest of my days!
Fortunately, I found a job that gives me the opportunity to work with lots of people from Central America and Mexico and continue speaking Spanish on an almost daily basis. I'm a Community Health Worker with a mobile health program that helps migrant & seasonal farmworkers access health services.
There is more to me than that, but there is only so much time I actually feel like spending on talking about myself.
M vle aprann ak pale kreyol ayisyen!
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Hooray for humans, and couchsurfing is a nice way to find nice humans who also like meeting and sharing things with other people.
Interests
FOOD (eating it, growing it, cooking it, preserving it, food systems), MUSIC (listening to it, watching it live, playing it, dancing to it), sustainable living, social/economic/ecological justice (and related activism, though I'm not terribly active in that realm these days), son jarocho, salsa, figuring out what I want to spend my time doing, meeting people, bikes, reading, corny jokes, being outside, speaking Spanish, wandering around and exploring, learning about new things.
Making pottery is an addiction that recently came back into my life!
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Seeing clouds of monarch butterflies waking up and stretch their wings as they prepare to migrate north was pretty nifty
Teach, Learn, Share
I'm on a lifelong quest to learn to live more simply and be more self-sufficent. And to learn as much about cooking as possible. And to learn to play more music.
I can share with you Spanish! And maybe you can share with me Haitian Creole?
English, and baked goods.
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Y aprender a cocinar nuevos platos ricos.
