About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I'd like to experience different cultures and places. I am looking to visit places to expand on my Capoeira knowledge and to see differences in other groups outside of my own.

ABOUT ME

At a point now where I'm doing as much as possible while I can, studying, training Capoeira, working, travelling, meeting people, dancing, learning languages, trying new food and more.

Out of all this the main thing for me is Capoeira! I've met so many people from all over the world, hosted them in my house, visited a few of them in their own country! Tried their food, made them some of my own, had parties and nights out with them! Truly opened my eyes to other cultures! I have a map on my wall for people to mark where they're from when they visit! Slowly but surely filling it up!

Always looking for new experiences, trying them happily, getting involved socially, using all my spare money to trying new things!

PHILOSOPHY

Life is just a series of moments, it's my job to make them worth remembering!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

At the moment I've moved into a house where I am unable to host people often, though I'm more than happy for people to contact me to meet up in Liverpool for me to show them around, take them on a tour of the city and everything it has to offer :)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

So far I've only been on people's couches that I've met previously (2 year old profile that I forgot to start using!). My favourite though so far was visiting a friend who lives near Faro in Portugal. They showed me one of the best views I've ever seen when she and her friend decided at 3am that I had to see the city properly. I was thinking we were going into the city, but instead they drove to a mountain, spent 30 minutes on a winding path to the top, nearly drove off the edge once and then climbed a radio tower at the top. I can honestly say I've never seen anything like it, I could see miles around me, 3 cities spread out, ships and boats out to see, all the stars. It was incredible, and now I'm looking to beat it!

For anyone visiting Liverpool I'm more than happy to either meet up for a few hours or give tips on where to go and what to see, the best way to get to places and the hidden places to eat/drink. I treat everyone as I treat my friends so don't be afraid to get in touch!

Interests

Capoeira! (This is a major theme in my life at the moment) - Though this involves more than just the martial arts, this involves the language, the food, the drinks, the friendly attitude, learning all the dances that come with the brasilian culture, learning how to play instruments, everything!

Food - I love trying new food, even if I don't like it in the end(There's only 1 thing I don't actually like). I like simple but effective food more than complicated dishes, something I can learn how to cook at home quickly but tastes amazing!

Other cultures - I always like to talk to people from other places for this. If I'm with some friends and there's someone from somewhere else there I'll naturally find myself talking to them and learning about where they're from. Traveler in my head if not in my person, yet!

Music, Movies, and Books

There is literally too much to list everything here, I was brought up reading every type of book from an early ages.

Though with the music I prefer latin language music at the moment. I am learning Portuguese and Spanish so this has a big influence in what I listen to day-to-day.
I can also play brasilian instruments such as the Berimbau(1 string stick instrument), Pandeiro(kind of like a tambourine) and Atabaque(similar to a congo).

Again with movies I watch pretty much anything. The only films I don't watch are the chick flick movies like Sex in the City, sorry, but they're just not for me! Everything else I watch though!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Abseiling down the front of one of the Cathedrals in Liverpool.

Seeing the south of Portugal from the top of a mountain at 3am.

Joining in with a street band in Madrid with my Pandeiro, then getting invited to a jazz night with them later on.

Playing/Dancing samba on my Pandeiro with a group of Brasilians I'd just met in Madrid.

Joining a group of people playing Capoeira that I saw on the riverside in Lisbon, even though we couldn't understand each other the Capoeira was all we needed!

Performing Capoeira in a street festival in Manchester that went through the streets for 4 miles.

Taking a 12 hour drive followed by a boat ride in Venezuela just to get to the beach, which turned out to be a chain of small islands off the north coast.
