About Me

UK-born, half-Trinidadian, recent California transplant, looking for the next big adventure.

I'm a college instructor, world traveller, and part-time nerd. I spend a lot of time outdoors, hiking and birdwatching, and a lot of time in the kitchen, learning to cook the dishes I've eaten on my travels.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Always looking for new ways to meet people while travelling! I signed up ages ago and never got around to trying it out, but better late than never.

Music, Movies, and Books

Books: Discworld series, anything by Neil Gaiman, Hilary Mantel, or Dostoevsky, anything on natural history.

Music: If it's electropop or soca I'll probably love it.

Movies: I don't watch a lot of movies? More of a Netflix-binge person.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Lived on cheese sandwiches and rum for two months in Bogota and didn't die of scurvy.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can cook well, in a wide range of international cuisines. Always happy to learn more about food, or to share skills and knowledge.

I'm particularly interested in meeting people who have an interest in social, political or environmental causes.

I love meeting other travellers and sharing travel stories, insights into other cultures, tips, that kind of thing.

What I Can Share with Hosts

My main skills are in grammar, rhetoric and academic and technical writing, so I guess if you need any papers, resumes, blog posts or cover letters doing, I'm the guest for you!

You probably won't be a bird person, but I could teach you cool bird stuff I guess.

I make a mean curry! And many other good foods if that's not your thing.
