About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Triathlete, Labor and Delivery Nurse, hipsterdufus: I am a very busy kid!

ABOUT ME

I love traveling and experiencing new culture!! I moved to western Tokyo October 2012. I live about 50min west by train from the Yamonote Line downtown; I'm also about 50min east of Mt Fuji by car. If I am not working I would love to take you to Mt Fuji!
Originally, I am from the most fun/most disaster prone state in America: Louisiana This is my first time out of the US, but I am soooo excited to be here! I have been doing triathlons (swim bike run) for 6 years now. I love endurance/extreme sports i.e. snowboarding. I'll end my self-description with a random fact: I know and can recite at anytime 65 digits of pi.

WARNING TO ALL CYCLISTS: It has been brought to my attention that I may be cursed when it come to hosting cyclist on cross country excursion! 3 times I have hosted cyclists with ZERO flats before they arrive to my house, and 3 times their first flat came after leaving my house. I will cook and provide shelter for you. I will ride in and out of the city with you but just be warned your perfect streak of no flats will be over if you stay with me.

UPDATE ON CURSE: Julien has broken the curse for now! No guarantees though!

PHILOSOPHY

My philosophy comes from studying Job with some influences from Seinfeld. "Whatever happens in life: That's what you get!" This sounds kinda harsh but let me explain... This is a way of justify what happens to you regardless of what you have done in the past. It is just saying: "This event or thing happened to me. This is what i am experiencing. That's what i get." It's my way of not worrying about the things I don't need to worry about...

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

i have had many couchsurfers surf my couch as i was growing up. we had kinda a nonconventional home... as i was going out the door to go to school, i would frequently discover new folks adorning our sofas! but i wouldn't trade it for the world!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The craziest thing I have ever seen ever happened Mardi Gras of '08. Setting: New Orleans, Bourbon Street, Mardi Gras Weekend, midnight. We were walking done the street looking at all the crazies when I ran into one of my friend from LSU. We gave him a Jello Shot, but he was a little drunk so he dropped it (the jello, not the cup it was in). We started to hand him another one when he did the craziest thing ever!!!! He bent down, picked up the jello off the corner of the street, and put... it.... in.... his.... MOUTH!!!!! Everyone who saw it was horrified; everyone in a 20 ft. radius started screaming. Everyone but me, I was laughing hysterically! For those of you who have never been th N.O. Mardi Gras, if you eat something off the ground on Bourbon, you are guaranteed to contract 6 different types of AIDS!

Oh- I also kayaked across the Mississippi at its highest level since 1927... scary!
