About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Zeitwohlstand statt Geldwohlstand!

ABOUT ME

I always wonder what people would write here if the word "open-minded" wouldn't exist...

After an intense phase of questioning and restructuring my aims, my values, my surrounding, I've settled in an ecovillage in 2016. It's been a long and sometimes bumpy way to get here, and I'm truly glad I took the challenge.

I think I'm really frugal in what I need to be content. So don't worry if you don't manage to tidy up before I arrive, or if your home is really simple and small... I'll sure be happy with it!

I'll usually enjoy a calm conversation in a small group or even one-on-one rather than going out for "partying".

PHILOSOPHY

I consider myself awfully rich. Not so much in a material way. Rather because of living in one of the richest countries in the world, and because of all the possibilities this offers to me. I think we forget about this too often. I think we compare upwards too often, but rarely downwards.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I travelled a lot in the past and also hosted. Currently not doing any of these. I live in an intentional community with educational centre that attracts thousands of people from all over the world every year. Being in touch with some of them is a bit like couchsurfing: no need to travel - the world comes visiting me.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

First CS experience: one weekend in Bern, Switzerland in 2010 and a week in Bremen (2011). I was really delighted by these experiences.
Our first guests in 2012. Two weeks of surfing in Ireland, England, The Netherlands and Germany in 2012. Hosting couch concerts for Amy Schmidt, Frederic Brewer, Joanna Weston and Bethany Weimers. Some more guests in 2013. One of those guests was a lovable young woman who is my partner today. What else could you wish for?

Interests

I have a passion for global justice, fair trade and sustainability. My dream of living in an ecovillage/intentional community came true in 2016 and I love to be in touch with other people who live a similar life.
You could check my blog at Utopia, which deals with such stuff: http://www.luas.de

I love Poetry slam a lot, and any other kind of absurd humour stuff.

Music, Movies, and Books

I've never had a TV set - it always makes me feel I could have used this time in a better way. However, I love arthouse cinema and occasionally organize film nights with my friends.

I love any kind of music that includes a cello. Can't exactly say why, but it can easily give me the creeps.
I like rather unknown artists, such as Vampire weekend, Heidi Happy, Emiliana Torrini, Portishead, Hellsongs or Tricot Machine. And I recently discovered Renaissance music. Supercool.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can share about the steps that brought me into an ecovillage and about my experiences with GEN (Global Ecovillage Network). And about the steps I took from being employed to being self-employed.
