About Me

I just came back to Sardinia from a long trip to take a rest and enjoy some summer. I am not moving back to Sardinia for good, only while I'm looking for my next job.

Hi fellas, my name is Luca.
I'm 30 years old and I'm an easy going guy, open-minded whom enjoys engaging in conversations with new people. I traveled quite, mostly thanks to my parents, awesome travelers.
During my high school years, I had the opportunity to spend a year as an exchange student in the US, which I believe helped me to get out of my country and start discovering the world.
I then moved to Germany to do an undergrad degree and lived there for about three years. For my last year of undergrad, I went on a year long internship in San Diego, where I got to mingle with the CS community and met a wide variety of locals and travelers.
After completing my studies there I decided to move to Dublin, Ireland, where I went on completing a master degree. I lived in Ireland for the last 4 years and now I’ve decided to take a career break and use these next couple of months for myself.

Before Covid, I had the chance to host a couple of CSers while I was living in Sardinia. Before then I did take part in couple of events and it's been fun!! I got the chance to meet all different kind of nice people. I really like the CS community and all the possibilities to meet cool folks from all around the world, they are always the ones with the right vibes and cool attitude to explore and adventure.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

A good friend of mine introduced me to CS when I wa in university. At first I was a bit skeptical, but hearing how many good experiences my friend had, I wanted to give it a try.
I find this a better approach for travelling around rather than just renting out a room in a hostel. I find it more interesting and enjoyable if a local can show around and guide me through his/her hometown.
In fact. I'm really enthusiastic every time I have the chance to guide my friends and guests around my home town, and to give them the chance to see and live the place as one of us.

Music, Movies, and Books

I listen to pretty much all the genres of music. My top 5 Spotify artists this past year were Avenged Sevenfold, Fat Freddy's Drop, Code Orange, Nasty and Alborosie. If you know any of them it means you got a good taste of music too ;)

I also enjoy watching movies and documentaries mainly about science, technology and natural sciences.

Not too into podcasts but when I listen to some it would from Lex Friedman or the Huberman lab.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

A good friend of mine invited us to visit him in Tanzania, his home country. We were 5 friends in total and we decided to spend a whole month on a roadtrip.
We drove around the country backpacking from south to north then finally east coast including Zanzibar.
I think that is the best experience I've ever had, I would do it again even tomorrow if I could!

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm open to every kind of exchange of thoughts and ideas. I'm enjoy learning new things and I expect people to be likewise. I don't really get along with close-minded people that believe on one thing and don't wanna listen to other reasons. Exchanging thought doesn't necessary mean convincing the other part that your idea is the correct one, rather learn and discover how other points of you might look like.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm open to share my past experiences in the place I grew up.
I'm also looking forward to share my knowledge and ideas over a wide ranges of topics.
Like I mentioned earlier, I really enjoy sharing my culture. therefore since I'm italian, what's best than sharing our traditional food!
