About Me

I don't really know how to begin.
I'm a nineteen-year-old Italian guy with the dream of travelling, especially interested in the Scandinavian countries, although I've never had the chance to visit them.
I love talking about pretty much anything: that's because I have a passion for learning, and conversations are the most ancient way to learn something.

I understand that everyone says so and that it's hard to take my word for it, but I swear that I'm a respectful guest. I'll be absolutely satisfied with however little any host is willing to share with me.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I hope it helps me travel with what little budget I have. Perhaps someday, when I have a house of my own, I'll be able to return the favour and host people.

Music, Movies, and Books

I don't really have any particular kind of music which I could define my favorite: I listen to pretty much anything except metal and that kind of commercial music which is played in discos.

As for the films, I love crime movies like "Seven" or "The Departed", documentaries regarding science (e.g. "Cosmos") or culture (e.g. "Happy People"), films that deal with profound questions (such as "Interstellar", "Inception" or "Taxi Driver"), war movies (e.g. "Save Private Ryan" or "Mediterraneo") and pretty much any other kind of film except love comedies.

The two most enlightening books I've read are "Brave New World" by Aldous Huxley and "Nineteen Eighty-Four" by George Orwell, but when I was a kid I've read lots of Clive Cussler's works (and I'd still enjoy them nowadays if I had time to read them) and other books by Italian and non-Italian writers, such as Italo Calvino, Giovanni Verga, Luigi Pirandello, Umberto Eco, Emilio Salgari, Wu Ming/Luther Blissett, Robert Louis Stevenson, James Joyce and so on.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Once I went swimming with whale sharks in the stripe of sea between Cancun and Isla Mujeres (Mexico). When I got into the water, at first I didn't see anything, so I got back to the surface to ask if anyone on the boat had seen anything. Just as I emerged, I was told to look underneath me, and doing so I saw a 10-meter whale shark slowly swimming under the boat, within arm reach of me. I froze in awe for a moment, and then I started to swim frantically in order to follow it. After about an hour, when I got picked up by the boat, I was told I had swum for about two kilometers.

What I Can Share with Hosts

As I wrote above, I love talking: I can share my (relatively few) experiences and my knowledge. I'm sure that some wonderful conversations may arise. Thanks to anyone who will give me the opportunity to travel in their country.
