About Me

HI! I'm Luca, just turned 19 and I have been in the states for almost a year now. I have a totally crazy personality and like to goof around sometimes. I can be very serious, too, though. I am usually down to whatever sounds fun and adventurous. I am also a very curious person and like to try out new things. I might be young, but this year made me grow up quickly and set priorities. I learned a lot about myself and what I want and don't want to do with my life.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Well... I have never surfed before, but I guess couchsurfing is the best way to get to know new people and not only other tourists, but the ones who are actually living in the place you are trying to get to know. There's no better way to get to know a new place, than to actually talk to the people who really know it, is there?!
Besides I am always up for a new adventure and couchsurfing somehow has an adventurous spirit.

Interests

Hanging out with friends, long and intense conversations and discussions, studying (I know, I must sound like a total nerd, but I love learning new things and I think education is important), dancing (in clubs mostly), listening to (loud) music, reading and writing, my horse, talking to my mom, sometimes I just love staying in bed and watching movies and then other times all I want to do is experience new things or do something I have never done before.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love mostly all kinds of music (except maybe Heavy Metal), but I especially like EDM. I love Hardwell, Zedd and Andrew Rayel, but I also really like Kygo. Apart from EDM, one of my favorite bands is FM Static, and I love to listen to some of the "classics" like Bon Jovi from time to time.
I love reading dystopian stories and am a fan of those YA novels (Divergent, The Giver, Hunger Games). I also really want to read Goethe's Faust and try to understand Shakespeare's English.
As for movies there are so many that I love, that I don't know which one is my favorite. One of them definitely is Man On Fire and I love the Harry Potter movies.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I would definitely say that coming here and leaving my family and friends behind for a year, was amazing. It has been a great year so far and I hope I can experience even better things in the future.
Staying awake in Chicago for the night and using McDonald's as a "hotel" and then getting ready in a bathroom at Panera Bread in the morning was a very interesting experience, too.
Oh, and, then the first concert I went to was Zedd's in Madison Square Garden and I had the best time there. Now, all I want to do is go to concerts and festivals. My goal: get a ticket to Tomorrowland next year.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm always open to learn new stuff about a culture, langauge or whatever there is and I would also very happily share my own experiences and language and traditions. I think I might have a very different view on certain things (especially stuff that concerns our health) and am willing to talk about that or even have discussion about it.
Oh and if you are interested in card games, I can try to teach you how to play Skat, which is a German game, that my father "forced" us to learn and I have come to love it. It is really complicated, but so much fun once you understand the system. My dad always used to say "If you want to bring a guy home, he should better be able to play Skat." :D

What I Can Share with Hosts

My language and I can talk about how I experienced the USA so far and how I feel about certain things, which I think could be an interesting thing to talk about. I would also very happily share some Germany traditions and talk about how growing up in Germany is so completely different to growing up in the States. I am not a very good cook, but I am always willing to cook,if someone asks me to. As writing is my passion, I would gladly share my texts with anyone who woud like to hear them.
