Overview
About Me
I am an easy-going guy studying at university.
What is there to tell about me?
As listed under "interests", I've been sailing for roughly half my life and thus it is very important to me. For example, when I can't see the sea (or some kind of water body) for more than a week, I feel that there is something important missing.
I enjoy various other sports as well, such as Calisthenics, jogging, surfing.
I'd like to try out sports such as climbing and diving one day and want to pick up Aikido again in future.
Intellectually, I have a lot of interests: I have a profound knowledge and interest in history and politics, and together with my knowledge in economy look forward to extend it at every available opportunity. Similarly, I'm interested in philosophy, though I am a novice in that.
I'm also in the process of learning more languages, in the moment French and Japanese (though unfortunately I am nowhere near communicative in the latter yet), but I plan to learn Spanish, Russian and maybe Arabic as well in the future.
I do enjoy partying and karaoke from time to time and love to go out to have a drink and a nice talk with friends.
I want to try out new things. Dare me;)
I look forward to meet cool and interesting folks and to get to know new cultures and views, even if they were the opposite of mine, as I am interested in how other people think and how they come to think like that.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Well, the financial aspect on travels definitely did play a role in my decision to join Couchsurfing. But much more important is my interest to get to know interesting new people and gain an inside view on different cultures and ways of life.
Interests
Sailing, Reading, Culture, Guitar, Calisthenics.
Music, Movies, and Books
Mainly Rock and Metal, but also a wide range of other music. I've read more books than I can count (both fictional and non-fictional). Among my favourites: The Eragon-tetralogy and the book "Why nations fail" by Daron Acemoğlu
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Crossing the Atlantic Ocean on a sailing yacht
Teach, Learn, Share
Guess I'll also have to learn what I want to learn (apart from topics listed).
What I Can Share with Hosts
1. My "insider" knowledge of and views on my home country Germany, as well as my experiences from my travels 2. Of course as well my other knowledge, depending on what are your interests.
I could list categories now, but that would be boring, so let's save this for when we meet.
3. An open mind that welcomes new knowledge, views and experiences.
And whatever comes up on top of that...
