About Me
CURRENT MISSION
I have switched to nomadic life in summer 2019. I am travelling the world and looking for volunteering opportunities while I freelance from my laptop part time.
Covid put a stop to things but I'm excited to get going again.
I am currently (end of 2024, start of 2025) travelling around Asia: this trip started volunteering in Laos, then after a brief train loop into Yunnan (China) and Vietnam I went to the Philippines, Brunei, Thailand.
I'm planning to visit Macau & Hong Kong, cross China swiftly by train and reach Japan by ferry (which I've been desperate to visit, and where I hope to spend 2-3 months).
I enjoy hiking, swimming (especially outdoors), reading, getting out of my comfort zone, sharing kindess and I'm learning to play the ukulele =)
I am also very much into board games, and not so much (anymore) into clubbing or very crowded spaces.
ABOUT ME - Pronouns: He/Him
I grew up in Italy and then spent about 7 years in the UK, mostly in London. I have always been in big towns and behind a desk, so travelling around and volunteering, often in manual jobs, is all new to me. I'm really enjoying discovering more about what the world has to offer. I'd struggle to say more about me right now as so much is changing every week about who I am.
Instagram: wanderingsootball (but I've moved away from it and I'm not really using it anymore)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I hosted when I was living in Rome and couldn't while in London. So I like to participate by meeting people, sharing my story and hearing theirs, and so on.
It's also incredibly rewarding to meet local people to chat and walk around towns, so it's really not necessarily about the couch! =)
Interests
It's such a huge list!!! Music, yoga, outdoors and everything that makes me feel part of the earth and rivers, swimming, walking, walking and walking more. Reading, cinemas, salted pop corn and sunny days. Board games and playing the ukulele while people sing-a-long.
This year (2025) I also want to make more of an effort to experience novel things and do 'date type' activities. Bumper cars, bowling, going out somewhere peculiar, and so on.
I have scuba dived (Padi Advanced OW) and done some freediving (stopped shy of qualifying to Wave 1/Aida 2 due to EQ struggles, but will complete it some other day). Sailing qualification as RYA Competent Crew ( = I sailed once, liked it and want to do more).

Music, Movies, and Books
Movies: from "Le fabuleux destin d'Amelie Poulain" to super-heroes movies, from Miyazaki to stupid comedies. I guess Amelie is one of my all time favourites, together with The Lion King.
To keep going: Me and you and everyone we know, The secret life of Walter Mitty, 50 First Dates, Bridesmaids, Kiki delivery service, Howl's moving castle, etc... and Everything and Everywhere All At Once was so fun!
The music I listen to changes every day, I grew up with Oasis and Aerosmith, then Evanescence and Nightwish, soundtracks, instrumental music, pop, now ... I just listen to what I like! Lately into Isbells, Misterwives, and listening to a lot of Indie or softer spotify playlists. Recently fell in love with Noah Kahan, Beta Radio, Hollow Coves, etc.
Books: would like to read more than I actually do, anyway, big fan of S. King, but Kinsella also, fantasy and more. Just read and loved Anxious People by Fredrick Backman.
I'm on Goodreads as Luca Dofus. Last year (2024) I read some 45 books and the target this year is 48. I've started diving into Star Wars audiobooks, I'm reading a few fantasy series (like Shades of Magic), I'm keen to read more sci-fi and I have several self-help/psychology books on my wishlist too.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Well, the International Yoga Festival has been a great experience, but don't wanna talk of that here, would be too long and too personal.
In summer 2020, having no freelance work (thanks Covid!) I went hiking for 2 months across Italy. 1000km of great trail, experiences and encounters!
Since then I also volunteered in disaster relief (California, Philippines) and built a bamboo structure for a charity in Laos.
Teach, Learn, Share
Cooking, especially because I improve every day, and it's always nice to practice yoga in company. I've gotten pretty good at making risotto :)
Watching a movie is always ok, walking through the city (and learn something new about it), ... anything! I'm learning the ukulele, would be awesome to strum along with someone else. And I'm always up for a board game! (In fact, I travel with some)
What I Can Share with Hosts
Stories, some ukulele strumming, cooking, games, company sightseeing or going out or staying in.
