About Me

My name is Lucas, from Brazil. I have a degree in International Relations and am currently studying to become a diplomat. I speak Portuguese, English and some French. I have lived in the United States and love traveling and getting to know different peoples and cultures. I am an easy-going person who loves to laugh. I like surfing, camping and doing outdoor activities. I was born and raised in Brazil, but my family tree is composed of many nationalities. I like to think that I belong to the world, not just one place.

A few things you should know about me:

- I can talk about anything, from which is the coolest paper size (and it's not the A4, if you're asking yourself) to the meaning of life
- I still don't get the ending of Interstellar
- I made my family a calendar with pictures of myself for each month as a Christmas present.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am backpacking in Europe during the months of September and October of 2017. I think that one of the main reasons for traveling is getting in touch with other cultures, people who think and live differently than you and share each other's lives. That is such an enriching experience.

Interests

I have a great interest for outdoor activities. I love surfing (although, not the best at it haha), camping, just being outdoors in general, also go-karting, watching Formula 1 and American football, playing tennis, board games, pool, foosball and the classic pig-pong. I am a strong advocate of laughing, joking. But at the same time, I'm always up for deep, meaningful discussions. Both are important parts of life. I seek to try new things, as life is made of memories.

Music, Movies, and Books

I enjoy all types of music, particularly electronic (Calvin Harris, Martin Garrix, etc...); also Maroon 5, Linkin Park, Jazz (Chet Baker, Miles Davis), classical music and country. I can sing American country music haha I am affectionated by action and comedy movies. Meanwhile, I appreciate a good well-made suspense, drama, romance pictures. I absolutely love Friends, have seen it 4 or 5 times the whole series, Suits, Vikings and so on.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Living in a different country (USA) at the age of 16. It opens you up to a different reality and pushes you to grow. Sword-fishing all night long or catching 12 Kg of shrimp at late night and enjoying them with good friends. Going off-roading, jumping and crashing (that part was not quite so fun haha) a jeep. Graduating from college, that was an achievement. Hopefully, the best is yet to come.

Teach, Learn, Share

Cooking is a hobby of mine. So, teaching and learning new recipes is something I look forward to. Exchanging stories, culture and language is great, as well.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share a laughter, a glass of wine and a listening ear. Despite my youth, I understand that every person has something unique to share, a part of themselves. And to me, there's nothing greater than meeting and appreciating someone for who they are.
