About Me
So.. where to start
My name is Lucas, and I'm a Uruguayan traveller looking for new adventures and experiences. I enjoy meeting new people and creating new relationships, and that's part of what I love about traveling. It gives me the opportunity to share some of myself and my culture with others, and obviously learn things from people I encounter on the way. I like to push myself to be better, kinder, more open in my beliefs and ideas.
I'm somewhat chilled, not exactly the soul of the party but I tend to prefer one on one conversations or smaller groups.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I think it allows me to meet lots of cool and open minded people, as well as getting to know places I visit in a different way. I'm much more interested in the soul and life of a city than in completing a checklist of touristic attractions, and I think Couchsurfing helps me experience things in a different way. I think it also allows me to form part of a larger community of traveller and to also give back something.
As of right now, I'm gonna experiment for a few months with solo traveling/backpacking and I'm in the lookout for people who want to share a few days of the journey with me.

Music, Movies, and Books
Uf, that's a tough one. I'm quite passionate about music, since I started playing the piano a few years back I've gotten more and into old classic rock - Beatles, Led Zeppelin, The Doors, just to name a few - and blues. But I also listened to lots of alternative and indie back in the day. Also a bit of latin music and deep house at times.
Book-wise I usually read literature or philosophy. Nietzsche is probably the author that affected me the most, but I've really enjoyed stuff from Hemingway, Milan Kundera, some of Bukowski's poetry and then latin authors: Garcia Marquez, Vargas Llosa and some Borges. Dostoyevsky is next on my reading list probably.. once started Crime and Punishment but university got in the way and I never finished it.
Movies... To be honest I'm not a huge movie fan. I obviously enjoy a wide range of movies, but I don't watch that many or pay attention to the artistry behind them. My favorite director is Christopher Nolan though, but partly because I loved The Prestige (and Interstellar, and Memento, and The Dark Knight, and Dunkirk... yea he's great).
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Adventure-wise I'd say bungee jumping was an awesome experience - in Switzerland a few years back. But there's not much to that story.
My most challenging experience was probably going to a 10 day meditation retreat (Vipassana). We basically had to leave our cellphones, wallet, etc when we got in and for 10 days we just focused on meditating. No talking to one another, no writing, no reading. For 10 days. Overall that was the easy part, and the tough bit was just meditating. There's a lot more to the story, but I keep some details for when I meet you guys in person.
Teach, Learn, Share
I know I bit of piano, but some easier things I can teach are juggling, solving the Rubik's cube, some tennis or football. My cooking still needs some work but my scrambled eggs are definitely something I like to brag about and I'd definitely be open to sharing my secrets.
I'm open to learning pretty much anything. Any new skill or lesson that you're open to share with me will be received with open arms.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I don't have much more aside from myself to offer. With anyone who's kind enough to join me in my journey I can offer you my friendship, my stories, my kindness and the knowledge which all of these experiences have taught me. A part of my culture, of my journey and of my life!
