Overview
About Me
I just graduated from school, and I am soon to be a transportation analyst for the New York City subway. I grew up just outside of New York City and am moving to Brooklyn in two months. I enjoy seeing big cities, and this summer I'm taking a cross country Amtrak trip from Los Angeles back to New York City by way of eight other cities.
I'd consider myself fun, adventurous, and social. When I'm traveling or hosting, I like to be on my feet and spending my day going from thing to thing. I can appreciate downtime, too, but even then, I'm the type to spend the day out instead of at home: maybe relaxing in the park or hanging at a beer garden.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I am a firm believer in the commonalities of the human spirit, and I love sharing myself with others and learning from others' experiences. Couchsurfing excites me because I am invested in sharing meaningful time with others, strengthening my own values and understanding others' perspectives. I'd like to think I'm pretty thoughtful and open-minded, and I like to meet people where they are - so I'd love a good, honest chat, no matter who you are!
The best way to get to know a city is through the people who call it home. I'm excited to learn about people's relationships to their neighborhoods and share my own connection to my home!
Interests
I'm a big fan of comedy (live sketch, stand-up and TV), and I watch a lot of comedy TV in my free time. Lately I've been watching a lot of Nathan For You, Broad City and Bojack Horseman. I could talk all day about why these shows are awesome + meaningful -- or I could just watch them without commentary! I also write my own standup comedy and am starting to perform in NYC. I'm starting to get into into drag culture now, too -- so I'd love to see a show with you, if you're interested!
Mixing cocktails just became a hobby of mine this year, and I just got my bartending certification in New York! I'm also into craft beer, though I'm hardly an expert.
I'm not the most crafty person, but I can talk forever about bullet journaling, hand lettering, etc, haha.
I'm pretty laid-back, but I also enjoy more serious conversations from time to time: right now I'm very interested in spirituality, relationships and justice. I spend a good amount of time reading, talking and thinking about leftist politics (though nothing too theoretical/historical), anti-racism, feminism, and queer issues. Queer politics and relationships are very central to my thought process. I'm working through how individual relationships and community building are connected to visions of both spirituality and justice, and I enjoy chatting about that with others who have diverse perspectives there!
Some other interests of mine include musical theater, taking walks, going to bars, seeing comedy shows, performance art, and exploring new neighborhoods.
