About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Make the very most of my current European trip and make new and lasting connections with people.

ABOUT ME

This is my first trip to the European continent. I'll visit Turkey on this trip. I've traveled all around America, visited Canada and Mexico. I have spent several months in Scotland, and visited London.

I'm a very low-maintenance guest... All I need is a roof over my head, or a back yard to camp in. Other than that, I want to meet new people, listen to their stories, and share my own stories. I'd like to stay in a city for 2 or 3 days to get a taste of life there.

I love cooking and learning about new food, and will gladly contribute to preparing and cleaning from any meal.

I am new to CS, so forgive any missteps.

Thanks for reading about me -- hopefully we will meet during my adventures!

PHILOSOPHY

I think that our lives are books where people we meet make the story interesting. Someone I meet may be part of my life for a few hours of many years, but I will always learn something new from everyone.

The news media makes it seem that the world is all a bad place, but I think that the world is all a good place, and most people are good people.

Places I go are not so important to me as the people I meet in those places.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm new to CS, but upon my return home, I plan to open my doors wide to the CS community. I had never heard of CS before my journey, but am so very glad it exists.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My very good friend and I once spent 8 weeks driving through the US, staying with friends, family, family of friends, and friends of family. We reconnected with childhood friends, met new friends, and had experiences we would not have otherwise had.

My favorite visit was with a friend's grandparents who lived in the countryside and had a large farmyard. I spent the afternoon mowing hay in the sunshine and experiencing a part of American culture I had never seen before.

I have surfed with physics graduate students, long-lost uncles, and childhood babysitters -- they all had things to share and helped me to see another part of this life.

Interests

Food and cooking, art and theatre, new buildings, ancient buildings, exotic beers, coffee, public squares and fountains, beaches, rivers.

I'm also open to new things I've never done before, and things I've never even heard of.
