ABOUT ME

Montana (27 years old) and I (33) have been together for over 5 years now. 3 years were spent in a long distance relationship 3600KM apart and the last two we have been living in our beautiful home in Cochrane, Alberta doing our best to save as much as possible for a year of travel together. I had the opportunity to travel Europe and SE Asia then live and work in Australia right after University prior to reconnecting with Montana and I have this crazy idea that if you can travel with someone you can get through anything together... so here we go! The money is in the bank and the contracts are up at the end of August so now it is time for the two of us to explore a few more places in this world together, get to know ourselves and each other one country, meal, drink, relationship and experience at a time.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I just signed up to couch surfing and have offered our two spare rooms for those passing through Western Canada until we leave this Aug 23rd. We are excited about the possibility of meeting some travelers in the next few months that we can perhaps visit on our year long trip. When traveling we are excited about cs for two reason; first, One of the prime goals of this trip is to eat our way around the world and what better way to find hidden gems and great local eats then with the recommendations of local hosts? Second, we are hoping that through cs Tana and I can meet specific people who will open avenues to our specific areas of research, see interests below.

Interests

We both enjoy being outdoors and active, we go out for salsa dancing and of course eating great food and drinking wonderful wine. We both love to laugh and surround ourselves with family and friends but can get down into a really good book.

Instead of listing the classic skiing, reading...etc Id rather highlight the very specific interests each of us are concentrating on for this upcoming trip.

For this trip we have both decided to use it as a wonderful opportunity for some interesting and lackadaisical research. Montana intends to research cross cultural interactions between educator and children in early childhood education settings while developing a travel curriculum for children. In this regard Montana is really looking for any hosts out there who might be able to connect her to any situations where a child is being educated.

I intend to research as much as possible about various cooking methods, techniques and flavor combinations around the world. I will be taking classes and looking for opportunities to cook alongside both new and older generations of various cultures to further my culinary skills. I will also be taking this year of travel to work on a series of short stories that will hopefully be turned into a how to manual in the future. I am also always interested in any activity that gets the adrenaline pumping, surfing, heli-skiing, skydiving, mountain biking well you get the picture.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music is a wonderful thing in this life.....Montana and I love almost all types of music and are excited to both share and learn about your favorite genres, bands, artists both global and local so that we can add it to our ever growing database of music. Montana sings and plays guitar.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The most amazing is the next thing to come!

Instead of listing a bunch of things we have done in the past we would rather concentrate on the future amazing things we are going to do.

Teach, Learn, Share

I think I covered what we are looking to learn from from others in the interests section.

However if you are looking for what the two of us can bring to the table as a couple ....Both Montana and are quite able in the kitchen and would love the opportunity to swap favorite dishes and recipes with our hosts. We also love dancing and are doing our best to learn salsa as we travel and could teach the very basics of LA/NY to most.

Montana is a Family and Child Specialist. She has not only worked for several well known non-profits but runs her own consulting agency. She has very specific and researched knowledge on child development, play therapy, program development, community outreach, fundraising, curriculum, organizational and staff development, parent education and strategic planning

My degree was in Philosophy and Political Science and I ran my own restaurant consulting agency for a few years before traveling the world for two years then returning and beginning a career in the oil and gas industry six years ago. I'm always up for a political or philosophical debate, I could show you how a proper costing food matrix works or how you drill a gas well 5200m underground, or how to make the best seafood stuffed mushrooms you have ever tasted! =)
