About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Overcoming my own fears, prejudices, and weaknesses by trying the unknown

ABOUT ME

Oh, well, I'd consider myself a nice person who loves to meet new people. I like practicing sports, of any kind, except soccer, I'm brazilian, but not that much! I enjoy having long chats through the night drinking wine and eating good food, going to the beach every weekend and reading.

Oh, gosh, I'm so not creative whenever I must write these descriptions!

PHILOSOPHY

I believe in ethics. Though I can't professionally lecture it, I do take some time of my life thinking about my actions and the correspondent consequences. We all do so much shit everyday without considering how that affects other's lives. And I am not saying that I stop doing stupidities because I think of its consequences, but noticing that you may change your habits and actions is the first step to achieve convergent goals. Empathy is also very important, even when one doesn't know what it feels like to be in someone else's place, one can always try to think of his/her position.

Besides this whole philosophical description, I can say I like to have fun, especially talking to people!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I first heard of this community when I was telling a workmate how lonely I felt whenever I went somewhere else with the bycicle. If one is riding the bike 8 hours a day, one doesn't have much time to get to know people, especially due to the phisical stress. I used to camp, but is kind of sad to see yourself confined in that tiny space on your own. Anyway, I'd like to get to know people, share experiences and moments.

And, of course, once in Brazil, I'll have the opportunity to be a host!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I haven't had many experiences, but quite a few which were really nice: Amsterdam, Lisbon, Torino, Vienna.

Besides, I met other CSers who were great people!

Interests

I'm interested in people(well, who isn't?), discovering a human being is discovering a whole new world of perceptions, feelings, and at the same time is part of selfdiscovering process. I like learning about different cultures, seeing different places, hearing different songs, and finally perceiving that I'm just another piece in this giant puzzle... which doesn't mean that all the pieces are alike.

I also love foreign languages and sports

Music, Movies, and Books

I like all kinds of movies, but I must confess I do not go to the movies to see Steven Seagal, Silvester Stallone, or Arnold Schwaz...you know what I mean!

I like reggae (of all sort), classical music (bach, Beethoven, Tchaikovsky), rock (70's: pink, doors, led, etc...), some new age music (Loreenna Mckennitt), bossa nova (brazilian style from the 60's, 70's), Oasis, Alanis, Amy Winehouse, Matsyahu, Reggae, but I try to keep myself busy discovering other styles as well.

I like science fictions, especially the ones written between the 30's and the 60's. Some authors: Isaac Iasimov, George Orwell, Aldous Huxley. Romances are also interesting, but I've read few of them. Garcia Marques is a good reference. I also like this new authors who started explaning the world in a different way, mixing science, religious beliefs, and quantum fisics, for example Fritjof Capra and Deepak Chopra.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Oh, well, I ran out of home when I was 18 (in Brazil people normally live with their parents until the age of 27) in attempt of being independent and having new life experiences. I have learnd to speak fluent german in 9 months, something I'm really proud of. I rode my bike to visit other countries, such as Germany, Holland and Belgium (average distance of 100 km a day). I would't say it's amazing, but it's something out of "normal".

When I was in Vienna, I jumped from a bridge into the Danube river, it was a great adrenalin feeling!

Teach, Learn, Share

Well, talking to people is a great way of acquiring informal knowledge, specially in a foreign language, because learning a new language is a whole new way of facing the world. Realizing that you have endless possibilities of expressing yourself is discovering that you can do so much more than you think. So, let's see what comes, what great stories we'll tell each other!

If you think of formal help, I am good with languages and math, and I cook (not as good as my grandma does).

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland

Countries I’ve Lived In
