ABOUT ME
Though I was brought up in London, my mother is Polish and my father is Greek and I think that growing up with multiple backgrounds has made me more open-minded, sociable and curious to meet new people.
I first heard of couchsurfing a few years back when I went to Pisa as part of the Erasmus programme. As many of my closest friends in Italy were couchsurfers, I went along to the CS parties and soon fell in love with the idea - I thought it was great that wherever you go in the world, it is now possible to find friends and share your travelling experiences with them.
PHILOSOPHY
I love it when I go to a new place and find out that everything I thought I knew about it is wrong. So go travelling, it's the best way to learn about yourself and the world and to get rid of prejudices you didn't know you had.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Mainly just surfing as smuggling guests into the various halls of residence I've been living in has not been the easiest task. When I finally undergo embourgeoisement and get a fixed residence, however, I aim to pay back my debts.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Lots of surfing and have hosted a few times, too. Not really on the old-school CS scene - not sure how active that is anyway now that CS has become big business.
Interests
Different cultures, history, the arts, movies, nature, hiking, cooking, learning everything about new places and new people (very earnest-sounding, I know, but I do have a sense of humour)
- animals
- arts
- cooking
- partying
- movies
- traveling
- hiking
- history
- languages
- study abroad
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Most of my travel stories are more about me getting into Mr. Bean-style situations than doing amazing things...but the flea market in Marseille was pretty cool.
Teach, Learn, Share
I'm not a very useful human being - I can teach you about history, how to spot and identify animals and the nice churches/restaurants in the cities I've been to. I know a few languages and a lot of anecdotes and I love sharing my knowledge of both. During the year I spent in Italy, I taught English as a foreign language so I can probably understand and help you with any language problems you might be having.
Countries I’ve Visited
