Overview
About Me
Marhaba,
my name is Lucas, I recently quit studying Electrical Engineering at the University of Applied Sciences Stralsund.
Since moving to the old town so you'd be sleeping right in the center of town as there is nothing much around. Also I've got loads of space!
After finishing high school in 2015 I and a friend of mine set off to travel Southern Europe by bycicle while always focusing on the situation for refugees and migrant in Europe. Whilst travelling and volunteering we met some of the most wonderful people one could imagine.
After having to stop the cycling due to medical conditions, it was 4 of these beautiful souls, I had met on the Greek island of Lesvos, I found an NGO with. Our main project was a mobile tea kitchen which we implemented in a caravan we towed through the Balkans.
Most of the time we spent in Idomeni camp, an unofficial camp at the Greek-Macedonian border. Here we gave out 10,000 cups of black tea to some of the 15,000 inhabitants on a daily basis.
Being constantly in one place now really tires me which is why I am looking forward to hosting loads of travellers and hearing their stories.
Looking at my profile picture one could assume that I am a classic hipster. This impression might only get stronger considering my studies and me telling you that I love cooking, do a lot of diy-ing and am working as a barista in a small café.
But I swear that this is just a lot of coincidences and a trend (I don't even follow) coming together. You could say I am more of a grand hipster. Haha.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Again, I am looking forward to meeting travellers, hearing bout their lives, their routines, their believes.
Having travelled to some of the most beautiful cities in Europe I always found myself preffering to stay in a park watching the locals rather than doing sightseeing.
Interests
Studying a bachelor in the field of electrical engineering I obviously have a fable for technology and sciences.
But furthermore I am interested in people and their (life) stories, in volunteering, social justice and the world in general.
I guess everything I hope for is to understand the world and the people around me a little better every day.

Obviously there is a ton of stories I have to share. Some to laugh about, some to love and some to cry.
I still am writing a book about all my experiences and am happy about every single opinion on it as I am kind of stuck.
Apart from that sentimental stuff I can share a damn good coffee, am a good cook and would love to lend you an ear. Jam sessions with you I would love!
