About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Constantly becoming a more informed world citizen, whether that means partaking in cultural values or shaping (environmentally consciously) the ground beneath our feet.

ABOUT ME

I caught the travel bug in 2001 when I lived with 3 host families for an entire year in Brazil during high school. Since then, in some way, shape, or form, my path has been intermixed with long-term goals to improve the environmental standards beneath my (our) feet.

After graduating college in Santa Cruz, California, I jumped from experience to experience, including a return to Brazil in 2009. That led to a Masters program in Piracicaba, Brazil, focusing on agricultural microbiology. Essentially, furthering my understanding of soil health and the life there within.

Later, lived on Marrowstone Island with an amazing group of individuals that are heavily involved in the ship community. But, I can safely say that despite what they say about the winters in the Pacific Northwest, things are looking extraordinary and brilliant!

CURRENT: (Still updating content and have to re-certify to NY address). I have returned to Long Island, NY, and have been back for about 8 years now. Working at a local land trust, I foster connections with conservation partners and apply my scientific background through the amazing projects I’m implementing in the community here. This includes water supply protection, sacred site restoration, invasive species assessments, native plant plantings and much more.

I have a love for families and festivals. Currently, blazing another connection by returning to Lisbon for Boom 2023. Planning to work for the first couple days of the festival and then fully immerse.

PHILOSOPHY

we are what we eat and we become what we make

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Sharing ideas with all those that I encounter - and just plain out asking questions... blending reflections and inspirations for methods of more sustainable futures for all - open for discuss!

Want to give back when I find a perch, but in the meantime am around for guidance. Getting closer all the time. I live with family and we are unable to host for the immediate future due to improvements to the house.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Wouldn't have been able to have such smooth transitions from place to place during my stay in Brazil without the CS community. I've met some of the most spectacularly gifted and open individuals throughout the travels. My life has become even more intertwined with the traveling spirit and sharing of knowledge (and so many forms of love). Sempre procuro lugares no Brasil/Portugal se você conhece uns projetos sustentaveis... tem que começar em algum lugar.

Interests

Being near large bodies of water, partaking in anything that has to do with water (open to many new ideas), exploring new places, checking out on-site horticulture / gardening / farming opportunities, dream wandering (& wondering), massage & acupressure, reiki, learning, biology, anatomy, pottery, observing and producing art (always looking for ways to dabble), meeting new people of a multitude of backgrounds and places, reading, writing, journaling, and somehow pulling it all together
