About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To meet new people, learn new things and have fun!

ABOUT ME

My favourite place in the whole world is at a festival, any festival! As long as the people are friendly, the vibe is good and there's (at least some) sunshine!

Generally I'm up for anything, during my travels I've been hitch-hiking, scuba diving and trekking. I love a good night out at a big rave where I can dance the night away but I'm just as happy spending a Friday night having dinner with friends, usually followed by playing board games, cranium is a particular favourite!

I enjoy intellectual conversations about philosophy and politics (given my degree, not surprising) but also love discussing society, literature and history or anything at all really! I'm always keen to learn from other people and truly think that everyone has something they can teach me.

I appreciate clever wit but also love to laugh at things that are just plain silly!

I've had several people say to me:
"I'm really glad I met you"
I don't know what better recommendation I can give for myself!

PHILOSOPHY

I try to help others when I can, partly because I believe in Karma, partly because it makes me feel good and also because I would always hope someone would help me if I needed it and so I feel I should do so for others.

I attended a 10 day meditation course in India and have generally become more and more interested in Buddhism recently. While I won't go so far as to say I'm a Buddhist, that is where my primary philosophy lies. I believe in doing good, in caring for people and learning to not get angry when things go wrong just accept that it's part of life and move onto the next thing.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I hope the couch in our house will be available soon, but for now lets just say meet for coffee and happy to show you round the city in the evenings or a weekend.

I couchsurfed in Australia and then New Zealand May-June 2009 after travelling through Asia. I had an amazing time and nearly every experience was a positive one with a few minor mishaps that weren't really problems just (mis)adventures!

My take on the whole couchsuring deal is that if someone gives you a place to stay you should be prepared to be whatever kind of guest they ask you to be. If the main thing is that cleanliness, then do it! If they want to hear stories of your travels, I would supply them! Basically, the way I see it is if someone is kind enough to give you house room the least you can do is be a good guest.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Couchsurfed in Australia and New Zealand in May/June 2009 and had an awesome time :) Again in Istanbul in June 2010 which was fantastic!

Interests

Travelling, raising money for charity, taking on new challenges, volunteer work, dancing like a crazy person, reading, listening to music, intellectual conversations, stupid conversations, going to/working at music festivals, attempting to save the planet in my own lil way i.e recycling, not flying (unless absolutely necessary)

Music, Movies, and Books

It's a wonderful life, the Shawshank redemption, Pulp Fiction, Memento, Finding Nemo (despite turtle inaccuracies), Dancer in the Dark (though i don't know if i can ever watch it again) and American Beauty to name a few films.

Music, incredibly diverse, from Regina Spektor to the Prodigy from the Beatles to Massive Attack. So many, it's all about mood.

Books> Midnight's Children, To kill a mocking-bird, Jane Eyre, The electric kool-aid acid test, The old man and the sea, lots more but that'll do

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The tropical fish scuba diving, the beautiful hills of Sapa and Chiang Mai and the tiger at Khana national park in India

Already said, hitch-hiking to Morocco was pretty amazing, getting all the way from north of England through France and Spain to find Fez was an incredible city

Teach, Learn, Share

I always want to learn but I don't know if I have anything I can teach...I'm full of random facts! If I come to stay I can give you a random fact of the day just like the newspaper does

Countries I’ve Visited

Australia, Bulgaria, Cambodia, India, New Zealand, Thailand, Viet Nam

Countries I’ve Lived In

United Kingdom
