Overview
About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To be "doers" not "gunnas" (as in "gunna do this or that")
ABOUT ME
John and Jennie are a contented middle-aged couple who are just starting to explore the idea of travelling the world. We have both immigrated to Australia (long before we met each other) with our ex-partners and children, and settled happily into the relaxed Australian lifestyle. We married 4 years ago and are at a stage of transition in our lives.
At present, we are living in our caravan getting ready for our future of travelling so we do not have a couch at present.
PHILOSOPHY
Life is to be lived, not to be wished for.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
We love the idea of opening our house to couchsurfers from around the world, which does not seem to be very different to hosting overseas students, which we have been doing for many years.
Before discovering the CS2 Project, we had already booked our tickets to go to the US and Canada in June/July 2009 and had discussed how we would love to get to know local people, other than just Jennie's brother, who has recently moved to Canada. That is when a friend mentioned having heard something about a couchsurfing website.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
We have now had several young people surf on our "couch" and it has been a very positive experience.
We stayed for 2 nights with a lovely couple in Vancouver, Washington, in June 2009 and found it to be a great experience.
Interests
Jennie is particularly interested in theatre, having performed in many amateur performances over the years, particularly comedy and children's musical theatre/pantomime.
We both enjoy playing Texas Hold'em poker in free tournaments.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
We have both made the leap of faith of immigrating to a new country, which, in John's case, was a very long way without any support.
