About Me

I'm from Quetzaltenango a beautiful city in the western side of Guatemala, I'm the youngest of 5 siblings and I love them all as the best thing I have in my life. I grew up with an unbelievable caring mother and a supportive and crazy intelligent father, as you can see I value my family very much!

I'm a very opinionated person, I love discussing whatever good subject you can think of, even bad subjects, I love good conversation, as of late I've become much more convinced that communication is one of the ways in which you can beautifully connect with people, I'll share one of my favorite quotes from film which says "And so much of our experience is intangible. So much of what we perceive cannot be expressed. It's unspeakable. And yet you know, when we communicate with one another and we feel that we have connected and we think that we're understood I think we have a feeling of almost spiritual communion. And that feeling might be transient, but I think it's what we live for" (it's from Linklater's The Waking Life) So... there you go!

I feel that change is very difficult for me, it's hard to get out of my comfort zone, but lately I have seen myself in the middle of a situation that requires flexibility and acceptance of change, it's been a huge challenge for me, and I'm trying to use it as a way to grow as a person, I'm already learning so much on the way!

What else can I say? I love to read, I love to sing and I love cats!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

My first experience with couchsurfing was rather recent, but it was crazy amazing, definitely not what I was expecting. Probably I would never had dared to do anything as crazy as staying in the house of someone whom I don't know... BUT! I did it, my friend convinced me to do it and we stayed with the nicest person ever in Vienna, at this place I had some of the most interesting conversations of my life and delicious food! I don't know if I'll ever get to see this person again, but I'm profoundly grateful to the contribution it meant for my life. Now, I want to have new opportunities of meeting new, interesting people while abroad... remember how much I value connection!

Interests

First of all, I love to read, I read as much as I can and even when I have read many books, I still haven't read all that I would like to. My favorite genre is the Historical Novel therefore my favorite author is Alexandre Dumas, my list of favorite books goes from The Three Muskeeters to The Brothers Karamazov, Contact, Jane Eyre, The intermitences of death and many many others...

I also love music and I love to sing, whichever song I know I'm gonna sing it, even if it's only in my head, for me there's nothing as healing and empowerful (does this word even exist?) as singing your favorit song! I love almost all kinds of music, Classical (Mozart, Tchaikovsky, Shostakovich, the Waldo de los Rios rendition of many opera's arias) Rock (Muse, Gun's and Roses, Aerosmith, One Republic, Héroes del Silencio, Bohemia Suburbana) Pop, mexican music, Abba, Eminem, Maroon 5, Oasis, Green day, The beatles, Bunbury, Kid Rock... I mean, I like so many different things (in my opinion, you're welcome to disagree!)

I love good movies, I've seen many but still not enough, I can recommend you some, and recommendations from you are very much welcome as well.

For a while in my teenage years I became obsessed with constellations so if you're interested in this subject we can go check constellations on a starry night! (Btw I also loooove Saint Seiya, which explains a little bit my interest on constellations :)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Please be patient! This answer is under construction...

Teach, Learn, Share

As said before I think you can learn a lot more from communicating with people than sitting in a desk listening to professors all day long (although maybe it depends on the subject, but still) So I value whatever you can teach me, a new song, a new book, a new film, a new perspective of life, whatever! In exchange I'll share mine as well, I can practice spanish, english or even french if you like!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share whatever knowledge I have of the city I'm currently living in, suggest places to visit or good restaurants!

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Costa Rica, El Salvador, France, Honduras, Hungary, Italy, Mexico, Netherlands, Spain

Countries I’ve Lived In
