About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To meet people interested in being in the middle of nowhere!

ABOUT ME

I'm working as a Presbyterian Pastor in Corona, New Mexico - a little village in the middle of the state. Even though it's a tiny place, people drive through from all over, and I enjoy getting to know them!

Before becoming a pastor, I was a radio morning show host in Nome, Alaska. I love to pun, and read things aloud - my radio training has come in handy in all sorts of ways that I never expected.

PHILOSOPHY

I am a young man of quick mind and a desire to exhibit godly, agapic love in everything I do.

I am a raveler, one who brings together disparate people or ideas and helps them to join in common purpose.

I am a story teller, who enjoys the discovery of new meaning or relevance in old tales, and who uses technology to deliver and enhance those stories.

I am a world traveler, who recognizes that we are all children of God, no matter our faith or views of life.

I am a teacher, who enjoys passing on knowledge and helping others make connections.

I am a student, who sometimes enjoys learning for the sake of learning, and sometimes enjoys learning practical skills, to be put to use.

Overall, I do my best to find the good in everyone, work for the improvement of humanity, and emulate Christ in my relations with others.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My one couch surfing experience convinced me to sign up here! I was traveling with a close friend from the Seminary, and we were hosted in Traverse City, MI. Our host was very generous, chatted with us late into the night and early into the morning, and gave us a gift as a result of that conversation. I felt welcomed, blessed, and appreciated in a way that is very rare in our culture today!

Interests

Science Fiction, Fantasy, and Alternate History (including Steampunk) are my favorite genres of just about anything - books, films, tv shows, and so on. I enjoy singing, but don't listen to much music (it was so much a part of my job at the radio station that I find it difficult to enjoy on my own). When I do listen, though, I like just about every kind of music.

I love to chat with people about nearly anything - there's a joy that comes from understanding someone else's viewpoint, even if I don't share it myself.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I went black-water rafting in New Zealand - where you carry an inner-tube around your waste, and follow the path of a river through a cave system. It's amazing to be floating underneath the earth's surface, and look up to a ceiling filled with glowworms!

Countries I’ve Visited

Australia, Austria, Canada, China, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Israel, Palestine, Singapore, Switzerland, United Kingdom, United States

Countries I’ve Lived In
