CURRENT MISSION
To enjoy life both at home and away.
ABOUT ME
He's the one with all the language skills - she's the one with the listening skills (in English only)! He is a photographer in his spare time. We both love to travel, see new places, meet new people - from all ages and backgrounds - and eat new things. We LOVE food and cooking! We also like a drink or two. We like reading and are in a very enthusiastic book group. We also love to show people round our little village and take them to the local pub with its view over the sea. We started rowing on the sea in the community rowing boat (Scottish Coastal Rowing Project) in 2011 and it's really addictive. Couchsurfers are welcome to have a row too - anyone can turn up and have a go.
PHILOSOPHY
People are essentially good. Try to live in the moment.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
We joined Couchsurfing in early 2011 and hosted about 10 people (or groups of people) in the first year. Because we work full-time and lead quite busy lives, we try not to host too many people so that it doesn't become too tiring - that way it's a better experience both for us and for our surfers. We are able to host only once or twice a month at present due to ongoing commitments. Please be aware that we can't host over the Christmas / New Year period as there are too many other commitments with family and friends.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Our experience is overwhelmingly positive so far! When we host people it feels a bit as if we are travelling vicariously. We have surfed ourselves a couple of times and it really changed our experience of travelling in these places.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
1. Travelled the bamboo train in the gathering dark near Battambang in Cambodia - a home-made flat-bed truck that travels on the railway line in between proper trains.
2. Won a medal (each) at the World Skiff-Rowing Championships in Ullapool in 2013.
Teach, Learn, Share
Put some blanched almonds in when you're making sloe or damson gin - it helps keep it clear.
What I Can Share with Hosts
We don't always have much time but we do have a comfortable house where you can relax and recuperate when you need. If we are available we like to eat together - and we have a cosy local pub.
