About Me
Photographer, writer, dirt road traveller.
I love discovering new places and experiencing new things. I want to stay away from tourist traps and experience countries as they really are. I’m currently chasing my dream of becoming a documentary photographer / writer, and try to incorporate my photography into everything I do. I love music, especially at wild all night raves.
So far I've roadtripped across 28 countries in Western and Eastern Europe in my van, and I spent 7 years living in the beautiful French countryside, so I speak fluent French. I also spent 2 years learning Italian in college but still have a lot to learn.
I'm currently on the road around the Balkans soon to be returning back to Cornwall in the Spring.
On our trips we're looking for cool open-minded people to meet up or stay with along the way- all we ask of you is a sofa or a driveway for the night, possibly a shower and some water for our tank too, and someone to share some local knowledge and maybe a joint or two with.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
To gain experiences with new people and make friends all over the world. To get into different cultures in a way that wouldn't be possible as a tourist. And to share my local knowledge of my home county Cornwall with other travellers.
Interests
Photography, live music, raves, surfing, yoga, reading, urban exploration, driving. Spending all day at the beach, walks in the woods, road trips, camping, stargazing, campfires at night, all-night parties, political debates and drinks with friends.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I've bungee jumped for charity and partied all night in an underground nuclear bunker. I've climbed Mount Olympus and soaked in thermal spas under the stars. I've hiked deep into the mountains of Albania to meet some of the most isolated villagers and document their lives.
Teach, Learn, Share
I want to share a different side of Cornwall with people; for me, Cornwall is about secret coves and beaches, coastal walks and the simple pleasure of driving along a Cornish country road by the sea.
When travelling to other countries, I want to get as far off the beaten track as possible, and gain an authentic experience of the culture and cuisine. I don't believe a country can be truly experienced in just a week's holiday. I want to spend time in each place, and live and learn there as I do. I believe there is a distinction between being a tourist and being a traveler.
I am happy to share my English and French speaking abilities with anyone, as I don't get a lot of practice speaking French anymore. I would also love the opportunity to better my Italian.
What I Can Share with Hosts
When travelling, I would love to gain some local insight into the best places to see, to eat, or to park my van for the night- I want to live like a local, not a tourist. I want to find secret beaches and beautiful scenery and wild parties. I want to meet people from all different cultures and make friends all over the world.
All I would ask of you is a sofa or a driveway for the night, possibly a shower and a washing machine too, and someone to share some local knowledge and maybe a joint or two with.
