About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Try to live the Lakota principle "Mitakuye Oyasin" "We are all related."

ABOUT ME

I am coming full cycle to those same things that intrigued me, kept me awake and full of passion in my late teens and 20's, but with a whole lot more knowledge and insight. And with a lot more energy and purpose!

Excited to have a better idea of what it is I am doing here!

Growing new roots, finding images of myself in the soil I restore, the dogs that walk next to me, the people that open their hearts and extend their arms to me, and also in the eyes of those that can't yet figure out how to trust & love no matter what.

PHILOSOPHY

What makes us all the same is that we all want to be "truly seen", fully acknowledged, with our darkness and our light. The moment we allow ourselves to "truly see" one another...true love, the kind we all long for from the depth of our being, manifests itself.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I offer my guest bedroom with a bunk bed (full size bottom bed, twin size top bed).

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I signed up in September 2013. I absolutely loved the concept when I found out about it. I was out of the country for 2 months after that and unavailable to host but once I returned I had my first guest, a meant-to-be friendship, in early December. Soon after that I hosted a young couple traveling during their Winter break (one of them just stayed at the house again at the end of this Summer, 2016 and it was great to catch up!) and that marked the beginning of a great adventure hosting & exchanging goodwill. It is a pleasure to have company and extend hospitality to those who come with kindness and a sincere desire to share a bit of their lives.

Interests

what makes people tick, cultural views that shape the ways we act towards others, psychology, music, sustainable living, food, textiles, alternative economy practices (bartering, hour banks, etc), DIY, crafting, sewing, cooking, dancing, walking, interspecies communication, meditation, yoga, I guess I am fascinated by so much. I am a curious learner.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Most are simple things that occur in the here and now, without traveling far. One that jumps out right now is that I would never get tired of witnessing the amazing experience of women giving birth. During my years as a language interpreter, I had the honor to interpret for many Spanish speaking women during their labor and deliveries and I cherish those memories. Every time it'd be as if I were witnessing the most amazing thing for the first time with fresh eyes.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Always willing to speak Spanish with those trying to practice with a Native speaker.
