About Me
**Touring the West Coast & Southern US by bicycle. Currently unavailable to host**
Hey All,
In 2013 I graduated from Gettysburg College in my home state of Pennsylvania. That summer I biked across the country with a charity group called 4K for Cancer, leaving from Baltimore and following a modified Northern Tier route for a crazy 4,432 miles to Seattle, WA. I wanted to stay in Seattle for no other reason than that it was not Pennsylvania - three years later I the travel bug has got me again.
This time I will be biking down the West Coast from Seattle to Los Angeles, and on to New Orleans. I am leaving at the end of August, 2016 and plan to ride through the end of the year. I've created an approximate map here: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1uC3Hk84c0IyNhYjT-rWLyx9j2zg&usp=sharing (link is external)
While I will be camping and staying with friends & friends-of-friends along the way, I also want to meet new people and learn about new places. At the end of this trip I am not sure where I go next - maybe somewhere along the route. I would love to stay with you and learn about your town. Then again, just a lawn to camp on and a bathroom to wash up would be a huge blessing.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I am new to CS. I've been registered for years and tried unsuccessfully to surf in Europe once, then was only able to host one time while living in Seattle. One day I would love to host more, but right now I am surfing as I travel.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I have slept on a lot of floors, couches, beds, chairs, backyards, etc. in my travels. I often use Warm Showers, which is like ocuch sufing but specifically for touring bicyclists. I've hosted once though CS.
Interests
I love most things outdoors, although I am an amateur - there are so many activities I have never done or have very little experience with (like scuba diving, climbing...so many!). I also really enjoy nights in playing board games, cooking shared meals, drinking some beers, and just reveling in friendship.

Music, Movies, and Books
My favorite music changes all the time. I like country to rap and most music in between. Some of my favorite artists are OAR,Passenger, Foster the People, Fort Minor.
I love fantasy and dabble in sci-fi movies, books, and video games. I am on course to read 50+ books this year. Some recent favorites include The Little Prince, Water for Elephants, A Tree Grows in Brooklynn, Land of the Free. I try to read nonfiction but it definitely comes a lot slower than a good novel!
'Captain Fantastic' was fantastic.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Biked 4,400 miles across the USA from Baltimore to Seattle while raising over $9,000 for young adults with cancer.
Teach, Learn, Share
Teach/Share: Bicycle travel & repair, above-average computer skills , cooking, random knowledge, philosophical/moral discussion.
Learn: I love stimulating intellectual topics, dexterous skills like woodworking, all things. Anything related to outdoor adventures - navigation, survival skills, etc. I am also recently interested in gardening and building my own small (not tiny) home.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Stories, adventure suggestions (camping, hiking, biking, etc), contact info/recommendations for hosts where I have stayed previously, small gifts (usually wine or beer), cooking meals.
