ABOUT Us

All about us? Just a tiny little bit should suffice.First of all, we're us.On the one hand, we're full of hope, looking for and finding silence, rest and peace (of mind), enjoying each other, friends, people, culture and food (which is culture as well). On the other hand we're a bit worried about where the world is going, and as we are part of it, we share responsibility - in any case for finding and living solutions on our own small scale.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW WE PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We are currently cycling in South East Asia. During our trip we cannot host persons. We're interested in and like to meet people. We really do! We look forward to meeting you and exchange about what is on your heart and mind. We are easy guests, respecting your private sphere. We love to support in the household, garden or fields.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

A lot of our CouchSurfing experiences didn't have anything to do with this website. As we have been traveling and hitch-hiking, every once in a while we have been sleeping in peoples gardens, guestrooms or barns. Contacts varied very much (from almost none to being together for three days), but in almost all cases it was so nice, to meet people in their own environment. Therefor we engage in Couchsurfing now. In 2012, we made a big tour for half a year, cycling from Cyprus to Estonia (and so visiting the not-so-new-anymore EU-Countries in the east). During this time we surfed some 25 couches and only had very good experiences. Also the other experiences (both hosting and as guest) have been perfect. We paused for a time and moved mainly to Warmshowers, as we had the feeling that in Europe at least, couchsurfing sometimes got 'misused' by partying students searching for a free overnight.

Interests

Bicycling!Nature, Culture and People. We are concerned about the environment and climate change, and so we are moving slowly on our bikes. We get nourishment from beautiful landscapes and personal meetings. We love cooking (and canning) and eating together (vegetarian) food. We constantly calibrate fairness, to others, ourselves, the world. This includes organic food and fair trade. We are interested in music, either visiting concerts or listening to music at home. Styles: Jazz, contemporary/modern classical (say: the last 120 years or so) and local traditional music.

In 2012 Louise and I took off for 6 months to bicycle from Cyprus, through Turkey, Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary, Slowakia, Poland, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia.
One of the best things we've done, just being away, everdays life existing of eating, moving, sleeping, looking, chatting. Perfect.
