About Me

READ THIS !, especially the 2nd paragraph when requesting otherwise I might decline without explanation.

When you request don't do it 4 months in advance, I don't plan that far ahead. If you want a definitive answer just request a week before you come, or even less.
Yes, I have space for several people, but if you request for several people be so kind and SEND LINKS to their Couchsurf (or Insta of Facebook) profiles as well so I can at least see each person, who comes to my home 😉
Also requests of a duration between 2-4 nights are easiest to accommodate.

I am quite uncomplicated, I don't need much to be happy and deal with almost any situation by improvising and going with the flow. I like to travel a lot and would always be glad to host someone from around the world. If you're writing a personal request I also don't mind hosting you without references and being your first host when the vibe fits.

Starting to feel annoyed by this platform for taking money from people who only want to be hospitable. Still enjoy the company of the community though so, back I am.

Overall summary: I'm doing you a favor when I host you for free and you don't need to book a Hostel or hotel so a general attitude of gratitude will be appreciated. Reciprocity is the big word, so show gratitude by any one or two of the following: cleaning, buying the groceries you've used, cooking, or suggesting free time things for us to join that you have planned for your stay.

The "My Home" section gives more info, too 👀😉

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

My first experience on here was surfing on a hitch hiking trip with my best friend, I'd like to host now too and give back. As I can travel Europe for free on all Ryanair airplanes I also explore often and surf at times...

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've been surfing once or twice and hope people will give me the chance to enter this community and their homes for a night so that I can do the same whenenver someone comes to Berlin.

Interests

I'm interested in aviation, that's why I'm a pilot. As my hobbits I sometimes play the piano or go canoeing on the Ruhr river / Berlin lakes. Otherwise I'm a very social guy and try to spend a lot of time with my friends. Recently I started taking up volunteer Firefighting which is exciting.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The most dramatic thing I've done so far is probably Bungee Jumping off the Bloukrans River Bridge in South Africa. I've stayed in Capetown for 3 weeks and then went on the Garden Route, a trip to Port Elizabeth and back ... sometime in between I went whale watching, too one time.

The other big holiday was in Canada, where I bicycled with my parents from Vancouver to Calgary - most of it anyway, at Castlegar round about we quit and took the Greyhound Bus for the rest.

In Kenya I stayed almost one year and did voluntary work, there I even learnt some Luo, a tribal language.

Now I'm quite active in the pilot union. For them I once held a speech in front of thousands of people, super crazy!, Check it out after min 2:20 :

One spring I travelled to Zadar on my own, had a great time. I do long distance runs and that evening after having been with some couchsurfers on Hangouts I felt like going for a run. I started from my hostel and kept going, I thought I can make it to a cape north of the city and I did, when I was back I saw it was already a half marathon ~21km. But by then it had gotten dark and started to rain but I felt great, and it was still warm. I had been running in swim shorts anyways, so I jumped from the city pier into the warm Mediterranean Sea.
It was right THEN and THERE where the endorphins of doing sports kicked in and I had a crazy high,
I lay on my back, the dark night sky above and the pitch Black Mediterranean Sea underneath me, rain drops falling into my face and the salty water cooling me down from the run. I was just the luckiest man on Earth for a few seconds, thinking of how great it is to be free to travel, meet young people like me from around the world, living in this time & age ...
I absolutely loved it and it's through spontaneity and couchsurfing experiences that this kind of things happen! I put up a picture of when I went home afterwards 😁🙃
