About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To find out who I am, I want to find out who we are.

ABOUT ME

I don't know who I am. Neither who will I become. I know I was born Brazilian for a reason. Same reason why I speak four languages, love to talk to people, have travelled across Europe, South America, South-East Asia, Japan and that now I live in France.
It's this reason that has pushed me into Electrical Engineering, into alternative sources of energy and sustainable developement.
It holds together all my faith, all my defects, qualities, hopes and dreams.

That reason is Humanity.

PHILOSOPHY

"If I look confused, it's because I'm thinking"

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I consider that it is the duty of every one of us to understand our species. This comprehension is beyond our prejudices, our artificial (and arbitrary) national identities and our beliefs. We should all struggle to the limits of our capacity to try to understand who we are both as a species and as individuals.

CouchSurfing is, for me, one of the tools in this quest of understanding. Through this network I get the chance to meet unique people that I would never be able to meet otherwise. But not only do I get to meet you, I also get to know who you are and, through you, who we are.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have hosted an event in my place a few years back. For now I just try to attend to local meetings whenever that's possible (not for a while actually).

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have surfed, hosted and travelled with CSers. And every time, everywhere, it is a great experience.

Interests

I am currently an associate professor on renewable sources of energy at the University of Toulouse. I'm always interested in technical discussions, but political, social and philosophical discussions are also very welcome.

Music, Movies, and Books

There are so many. I suppose it comes and goes in phases.

Main preferences:
- Metal (Heavy, Progressive and others)
- Bossa Nova
- MPB (Música Popular Brasileira)
- Rock (all inclusive)
- Electronic music (currently exploring)
- Classic music (always makes me feel some deep powerful emotion)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Watching the sunset besides Kamakura's budda, near Tokyo.

Having 5 straight days of sun in the Isle of Skye.

Given a chemistry course to a class of 40 people from the age of 13 to 45, all from the brazilian MST (Mouvement of the Landless) which fights for land reform in Brazil.

Watching the sunrise from (almost) the top of mount Fuji.

Assisting Cecilia through the delivery of Cassia.

Spending the first 40 minutes of Cassia's life with her while her mother was recovering.

Watching the sunset at the Lençóis Maranhenses in Brazil.

Organizing three international conferences with Wind Empowerment.

Crossing a mountain chain in Argentina.

Cycling from Narbonne to Bordeaux (400+km)

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm more than willing to share about renewable sources of energy and sustainability. There is, of course, the socio-political interest of how to put to practice a better world.

What I Can Share with Hosts

It all depends.

If I'm free during the day to hang around, I'll try to stick with you and do anything we might be up to.
If I'm not free during the day, I'll try to spend as much of the evening and the night up so we can share.
Either way, I'll try to share with you the world through my eyes.

This is revolves around Cassia's schedule since we do not have a Nanny. But Cassia is really cool and she is really keen on hanging around.
