Overview
About Me
Easygoing Croatian, lived in Moscow, Iraq and currently in Doha (not for much longer I hope). My likes include having electricity, landmine-free hiking, hiding my horrible low quality Russian drum n bass addiction, saying yo more than Jesse in Breaking Bad, sucking at photography, re-injuring my knees, and hating beans.
Used to be an English teacher, now doing boring admin/data stuff in a boring country and coping with vacations in Istanbul and Georgia, hope to start making a living with 3D CGI / content creation remote work soon.
Love meeting interesting people from different countries and cultures and discussing cultural and linguistic peculiarities, differences, history etc...
Most of all I love learning things in general.
I have many interests and hobbies but the main one when it comes to traveling is MOUNTAINS. If it's there, I need to climb it :) (not a professional climber but pushing the limits of "unprofessional" every year). Another one is urbex/urban exploring - abandoned buildings, tunnels, mysterious ladders going up a huge smokestack or down deep into the earth, doesn't matter, it's mine. Have been wanting to go under Paris since 2006. If you know, you know.
I rarely surf couches and more often prefer to just meet people who seem cool or interesting.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Can't host for the time being but hopefully will in the future.
I often attend CS meetings where ever I am.
Surfed in Iraq, Iran and Lebanon with good people.
Interests
Travel, hiking, urbex, underground electronic music (especially psychedelic chillout and other downtempo), deserts, anywhere far/remote/untouched, Middle East and Asia in general, history, aviation, astronomy, photography, 3D CGI.
About traveling:
I'm a return guest to Georgia, Istanbul/Turkey and Iran and have the feels for these places in particular. I also crave to go back to Japan.
Have travelled the middle east extensively (and lived in Iraq and Qatar), and some other places mainly in Asia. Want to go to offbeat places like Tuva/Altai Republic, Maluku islands, Sao Tome & Principe, the mountains of Tajikistan, Ladekh, Mongolia, Andaman/Nicobar islands, tunnel network under Paris (the "Catacombs" but not the tourist museum part) and anywhere else remote af.
I feed on seeing and experiencing new places, people and cultures, with a special affinity for unusual and off the beaten path destinations. I love to forgo the touristy stuff and get down and dirty in "ordinary" places and activities, I prefer the local experience and hidden gems more than the fancy hotels and sights.
I love beautiful natural settings and clean and orderly as well as dirty and chaotic urban areas alike.

Music, Movies, and Books
Psychedelic chillout and all kinds of downtempo, goa trance, world (fusion) music (such as Azam Ali, Dead Can Dance, Irfan etc.) and much more.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Traveled around Iran for a month + revisited twice, hitchhiked through Japan, rock climbed in Wales, couchsurfed in Iraq, weeks of hiking in Georgia, took photos of distant galaxies.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach you English :) (and Croatian!)
...and also give extensive advice about any country I visited (and about many that I haven't). I've lived in Russia and Iraq, and done a solid amount of traveling in the middle east and immediate surroundings.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I rarely surf and just prefer to meet. When I do surf, I'm invisible, clean and flexible, and offer infinite amounts of humor and curiosity :)
