About Me

Hi there :D
I love to be out in the nature. I also like to study nature (Environmental science) but even more the interaction between human and the environment. As this interaction has many problems I'm rather critical about our society and it's ability to live in harmony. I'm quite sensitive to social injustices too. In order to stay sane in this world I try to channel my anger into politcal action. I also do Yoga which helps ;). And I meet many great people on Couchsurfing and elsewhere which helps as well. Actually, this description maybe gave you a wrong impression. I think I'm a very positive person and I surely laugh a lot (and loudly)!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Someone once said that man is man's greatest joy. And I think that someone was right (only that he forgot the women). Even though we might not always recognize it, people usually want to do good and are happy to help you, if you only give them the chance to do so.
I feel lucky that I was able to experience many (random) acts of kindness and hospitality in the past. And I wish to still have many such encounters in the time to come. That moment, when two strangers open up to each other and the differences suddenly become less important and all that counts is just having a good time together, is fascinating to me. That's what traveling is all about. And that's why I am on couchsurfing.
And I enjoy to share a self-cooked dinner from time to time. Some things are just better when shared.

Music, Movies, and Books

Reading a lot of french literature at the moment because I wan't to improve my french, Philippe Besson mostly. I liked "The use of man" by Aleksandar Tišmakn and "The bridge over the Drina" when I was travelling Eastern Europe. I also enjoybooks with a historical context, particularly somewhat dystopian pieces like "1984" and "Fahreinheit 451". I've also read quite a lot of books about buddhism. So you see, I have rather diverse interests when it comes to reading.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've been hiking with two good friends of mine this summer in Piemonte, Italy. Three weeks of moving everyday, beautiful nature, Italian food.. do I need to say more?

Teach, Learn, Share

Always eager to learn bits of a new language. Or to practise a language I already know.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I like to cook. And people usually like what I cook. So if you're enjoying food as much as I do, you definitively shouldn't miss that opportunity. Vegetarian, mostly vegan :).
Also I am very interested in you. Tell me about your day-to-day live, what maybe bothers you and about things that make you smile.
I tend to start political/philosophical discussions, not always intentiously though, but simply because there are so many issues at hand to be talked about.
