Overview
About Me
Hi, I’m Lukas from Germany. I’m 20 years old and finished high school last year. After a two months break in Canada und the US, I started studying Physics at an university in Tübingen, close to Stuttgart. After my trip to Canada and the US I fall in love with traveling and started planning my next trips weeks after my returning back home. I discovered another love as well, photography, I bought a little GoPro before heading to Canada, took hundreds of photos but only a few made it on Instagram. Back in Germany my father gave me his old Dslr and I enjoyed taking pictures even more.
What you should know about me: I don’t like parties, loud music and drunk people are annoying me. That doesn’t mean you can not have fun with me. I’m always with you for a drink in a bar, deep conversations and getting to know each other and the culture. Or maybe some darts, pool or bowling.
Even if I’m from Germany I don’t like soccer that much, I’m more like the motorsports guy, I do started go-kart races when I was 5 and did carraces for a few years when I turned 15.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
When I was in Canada and the US i stayed in hostels most of the time. I met people from all around the globe. But I only met a few Canadians and Americans, when we, as a hostel group, reached out for the city, nobody really knew the city. We did the classic tourist spots, went to the closed bar and the day was over. I would like to change that. That's why I try Couchsurfing, I would like to meet the people who live in the city I visit. Get to know the secret spots, the best bar and the traditional food. My trip to the UK is my first time couchsurfing, I have zero experience and obviously zero reviews.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Two things.
I think one of the best days in my life was a mountain biking day in Golden, British Columbia. I was in a little city, called Golden, close to Banff National Park in Canada. Because it was so small there was not public transportation and I had no car. But there was a mountain resort a few kilometres outside the city, only one street was heading to the resort. So I decided to hitchhike for the first time in my life. A few cars passed by until a old man stopped his truck. I have never been that nervous on a car trip but it turned out well. I hiked the mountain and saw many mountain bikers. I checked the prices to rent a bike, unfortunately was it very expensive. After thinking about I decided to give it a shot and got a bike for the next day.
Next day, same procedure Hitchhiking to the mountain, taking the bike, setting up the GoPro and all the way up with the gondola. I have never done Downhill Mountain Biking before, I started slow and got faster with every run. It turned out to be one of the best days in my life and I got awesome footage of it.
Second is a meeting in Banff National Park. A meeting with a little chipmunk. After a 12km hike I saw some chipmunk on the path. I slowed down and took my camera out. Those little creatures came closer and closer until one of them stepped on my shoe and gave one of the most awesome shots of my life.
