About Me

Hi all! I'm currently a grad student. In my free time, I like to bike, climb/boulder, run, hike, camp, play piano, watch movies, and go out with friends. As with many couchsurfers, I love to travel! I also love visiting US National Parks and have so far been to 26!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To meet as many locals as possible when I travel and to help people out when they need a place to stay. I have had many positive hostel experiences while travelling, but often find that I only spend time with other travelers -- Couchsurfing guarantees some local interaction and better engagement. I also use Couchsurfing to hang out with locals in new places even when I'm not staying with them.

Interests

I love learning about cultures through languages and literature, and I love being outside - whether hiking across a region or gardening in a city!

I have a couple small travel-related collections: postcards, coins, etc. They aren’t huge collections but I like them.

I'm also a language nerd :) I specialize in minoritized languages in contact with Spanish, especially Galician in Spain and Yucatec Maya in Mexico.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: anything acoustic or folksy, classical, and many others.
Movies: Wes Anderson, Spike Jonze (Being John Malkovich!!), Y tu mamá también (and other Cuarón stuff), The Mission, Almodovar. I usually try and watch all the Oscar nominees in a given year and I adore Greta Gerwig.
TV: best shows I've seen recently are Fleabag and Bojack Horseman. My favorite throwback is Lost.
Books: I've usually got a book going. My recent favorite is Flights, by Olga Tokarczuk.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Spent a week on the Camino de Santiago in Spain!
