Why I’m on Couchsurfing

When you’re staying at hostels, I feel like the culture remains the same no matter which country you’re in - just a bunch of travelers going to the same sites and looking for cheap food 😂. When I stay with locals, it’s an entirely different experience; it’s a true taste of another culture, and it provides the opportunity for a much more personal and intimate friendship to form.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: I used to play guitar in a metal band, but I’ll listen to absolutely anything; indie, metal, rap, folk, and pop are my preferred genres at the moment. My favorite artists include Father John Misty, Bon Iver, Billie Eilish, Gogol Bordello, Andrew Bird, JID, Anderson .Paak, Kendrick Lamar, Flume, Wintersun, Children of Bodom, Moonsorrow, Beach House, Fleet Foxes, Rosalía, Mac Miller, Neutral Milk Hotel, and Post Malone.

Movies: I LOVE horror movies, but have a pretty varied taste. Some of my favorites are The Witch, Call Me By Your Name, Hereditary, Roma, Stand By Me, and the first three Pirates of the Caribbean movies. I studied film in university and have worked in a few Hollywood production companies, so movies are kinda my thing :)

Books: I don’t read as much as I should, but I’m trying to change that! I just read Blood Meridian and Touching the Void, both of which were wild. Harry Potter is my jam.

I broke into the Acropolis! It sounds bad, but really my intention to pet a stray dog on the other side of the fence. I was quickly caught by the police ☹️

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you some guitar techniques, English, editing video and music, film analysis, or I could just talk endlessly about US politics if you want (fuck Donald Trump). I can also cook pretty well!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I’m always game for a lively conversation, a hike in the local woods, cooking a meal together, a trip to your favorite neighborhood bar (first round’s on me), a roasty-toasty sauna session, or a round of cards.
