Sobre mí

PLEASE READ MY ENTIRE PROFILE AND MY HOME SECTION BEFORE SUBMITTING A COUCH REQUEST.

A small amount of effort in writing a couch request goes a long way. I know traveling is hectic, and sometimes you may not have a lot of time to read profiles and write requests, but in my experience the effort is met with the reward of excellent hosts.

Now that that is out of the way:

I'm a keen traveler and couchsurfer. Along with the US, I've lived in New Zealand and Austraila, as well as traveled through the UK, Ireland, and Canada.

I'm super passionate about the outdoors, and most of my hobbies relate to that (rock climbing, ice climbing, mountaineering, backpacking, mountain biking, etc.). Just the same, I enjoy staying in listening to some music or playing some video games while drinking a good beer. I spent a while living in a co-op that promoted sustainable community based living and hosted couchsurfers there (https://www.couchsurfing.com/people/mqtclimbers) and lived in a community of travelers called CrunchyTown in a warehouse in Melbourne, AU hosting couchsurfers. I'm am currently working as a Surgical Research Associate at the University of California San Diego School of Medicine. I will be starting the Physician Assistant program at Yale School of Medicine in January!

Por qué estoy en Couchsurfing

While traveling previously I have always found meeting new and interesting people to be the best part of the journey. I see couchsurfing as a way to meet like minded, awesome people while traveling inexpensively. In addition to surfing I have hosted previously as a member of the Marquette Climbers' Co-operative (https://www.couchsurfing.com/people/mqtclimbers). Currently I don't have a place of my own to share, but as soon as I do you bet I will be hosting

Música, películas y libros

Music:
I listen to anything and everything: jazz, punk, metal, classical, pop, folk, indie, rap, hardcore, electronica, reggae. If it's music I will probably enjoy it.

Lately I have been listening to : Yosi Horikawa, Mogwai, Courtney Barnett, The Neighborhood, Fleet Foxes, Chuck Berry

Books:
While I enjoy a good novel, most of the time you will find me reading some nonfiction. I particularly enjoy books about data and economics. I usually have some sort of skill related book in progress as well. I'm a huge fan of leaning new skills or bettering those I already have.

Currently I'm reading: The Complete Works of H.P. Lovecraft; Colonel Roosevelt by Edmund Morris; What's Wrong With Homosexuality? by John Corvino

Movies: I love a good superhero movie or a dark comedy. Thrillers and action movies are up there too.

Favorite movies I've seen recently: Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 2, Banff Film Festival

Algo increíble que he hecho

Recently: Kayaked the entirety of Able Tasman National Park, New Zealand; snorkeling the Great Barrier reef off the coast of Bundaberg, AU; climbing Mt. Arapilles and Mt. Beerwah while in Australia.

Enseña, aprende, comparte

Teach: I love getting people outside and into the wilderness. If you want to learn some outdoor skills, I'm always keen to teach. Teaching people to rock climb is probably one of my favorite things to do. I also like teaching people how to work on their cars/motorcycles. I have plenty of other random skills I like to teach people: e.g how to shave with a straight razor.

Learn: Currently I'm really wanting to learn how to surf! Also I'm hoping to improve my baking.

Qué puedo ofrecer a los anfitriones

I'm always willing to share my passion for the outdoors. Want to go for a hike, rip on some single track, climb some rocks, or maybe even mountains? I'm always keen. I love sharing new music with others and getting to hear what you like. Want sit around and play some video games or board games? I love doing that as well. I'm a big fan of cooking, and would love to cook you a good meal. Car not running right? Need an oil change on your motorcycle? Need some work done around the house? I'm pretty handy and would be happy to lend a hand.
