About Me

I grew up wanting to visit every country in the world. And I started travelling a lot with that aim. Then one day I realised I’d left all my good friends behind in one country, just to go somewhere more expensive with less friendly people and fewer sights. I changed my travel goals after that. Now I just travel to find places I love, and I’m easily content with a good sunset, a good book and a latte

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I mostly like to travel to places for a month or a few months, so it’s a nice way to hopefully meet people properly in each place I go

Interests

Exploring random things.
I’m a huge fan of exploring abandoned buildings, and for a while I spent a lot of time and effort finding notable Soviet murals. Before these, I had a phase finding interesting East London graffiti.

Nights out.
I’m an absolutely terrible dancer, but for some reason it doesn’t stop me from being the first one on the dancefloor in any given setting, so if you know any clubs near you then let me know!

Books.
I’m quite into anything concerning religion or philosophy, as well as classic literature and stuff like autobiographies

Dogs.
I absolutely will, without a doubt, pause any given conversation if I see an adorable dog walking down the street. Generally, big dogs = better, and Labs/Huskeys/Golden Retrievers/Alsatians are the best :D

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: I like a lot of very different genres - sorry to give such a basic answer :P Seriously: will happily go to a death metal gig, sing ABBA at karaoke, or chill with some ska. All good to me!

Movies: So many to choose from! Yesterday, Goodbye Lenin, Inception, Casablanca, The Last King of Scotland, Good Will Hunting, The Lives of Others, It’s A Wonderful Life, Groundhog Day, Slumdog Millionaire, Hot Fuzz, Shaun of the Dead, Junction 48

Books: Classic literature usually. Elsewhere, Rory Stewart’s ‘Occupational Hazards’ is absolutely fantastic (and the epilogue extremely poignant), and ‘Escape From Camp 14’ by Blaine Harden is pretty thought-provoking.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I uncovered an organised financial fraud scheme operating out of an offshore jurisdiction when I was 19
