About Me
I'm a happy go lucky chap thats easy to get along with. I enjoy the simple things in life such as a cuppa tea, a days hiking, reading a book in a pleasant surrounding or simply sharing a bottle of wine at home.
One of my biggest passions is cooking. It's something I've enjoyed from a very young age and will continue to use as a form of relaxation and self expression. I'd like to cook for you if given the chance, sharing's caring after all!
I can't play any instruments but Im looking to pick up the guitar again as I'd like to play like Willy Mason.
A lover of all arts with an inclination towards photography and illustration, know any decent galleries? Sweet, lets go!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
From my teenage years I always knew I wanted to go traveling after graduating university. I started this with a road trip around America for a month, shortly followed by another month in New Zealand with family. Life done its thing and "got in the way" and before I knew it I had a two year gap from any long term travel. Shortly after quitting my job at Apple last October, a rather spontaneous trip to Thailand arose to meet with one of my oldest and closest friends, I jumped at the chance...
During our time in Thailand we had many conversations on growing up, finding a "proper job" & living up to parents expectations... After which I decided that life is too short to be working a job I don't like, just to pay for a life that I don't really want.
Arriving home with a new found courage to do more of what I love I started saving for my next ticket plane ticket, this time, with no return flight.
On May 30th I'll be leaving for Ecuador, a country I've wanted to visit for some time, and to attend a 12 day meditation retreat. With a clear mind and fresh perspective on life I'll then fly to Brisbane to begin a working holiday visa year. During this year I plan on cycling around the country working on farms, work away locations & sustainable projects. As a photographer, I will document the journey with the intention of producing a photo book at the end of the year.
As I plan on moving around a lot during the next few years I hoped this would be an interesting way to meet genuine locals with interesting stories. Even if it's not possible for you to host me I'd be more than happy to meet you! I love sharing stories over a cup of tea/coffee, a meal or maybe even a few pints of beer!
Interests
Throughout my teens and early twenties most of my time was taken up by skateboarding. After a few repeat injuries over the past year I've put my board to one side and moved my attention towards running & cycling.
On the whole I generally enjoy outdoor activities. I'm happiest either hiking a mountain or being tumbled by the sea.

Music, Movies, and Books
My music taste varies from Lianne La Havas, Radiohead, Wu Tang Clan to Rage Against The Machine. I'll basically listen to anything as long as its got some soul to it, that being said, I can be a sucker for a decent pop song...
**CURRENTLY LISTENING**
So Long, See You Tomorrow
By Bombay Bicycle Club
I like a trip to the cinema every once in a while but I'm more inclined to stay home with a cuppa tea and a decent documentary.
I'm an avid reader of all genres, however, recent titles would suggest I currently sway towards non-fiction. My favourite book is Hard Boiled Wonder Land & The End Of The World by Haruki Murakami.
**CURRENTLY READING**
The Tree of Yoga by BKS Iyengar.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
After graduating university (BA Photography) myself and two friends flew to the west coast of America. Once there, we hired a converted van and spent 33 days road tripping through California, Nevada, Arizona, Utah & Colorado. The van itself slept two but myself and Arthur gave that space to Sophie, whilst us boys slept in a fold out tent on top of the van. It was an incredible trip that consisted of many starry nights, classic american meals and conversations with locals interested in our journey.
The part that I enjoyed most on this trip was the warm and welcoming attitude of the American people, never have I experienced so many complete strangers open their homes and hearts to us. A true inspiration for seeing the best in people!
Teach, Learn, Share
If you've ever wanted to have a more in-depth knowledge of photography I'd happily tell & show you all I can! With a long back ground in I.T and once working for Apple, there's a good chance I can help you learn to fix any computer issues you might have.
I'd like to learn to speak Spanish. As a kid I knew the basics very well just from holidaying in Valencia every year.
I have a passion for cooking, especially with and for other people. If given the chance I'd be more than happy to cook for you! There's nothing better than sharing a home cooked meal with friends! Most people tend to rave about my vegetable chilli con carne, mushroom stroganoff & home made pizza's.
