About Me

Hi! I am an American living in France these days. I graduated from University in Boston in December ( I studied Government) . Since then, I've been working remotely. First in Medellin, Colombia and now in Saint Gervais, France. I'm from the Midwestern US (mostly), and I fit a lot of the stereotypes (hospitable, friendly, down to earth, tall). I currently do some work for an education consulting firm while trying to write on the side. I write some fiction, poetry, and some nonfiction about the intersection of politics and religion. Like I said, I'm based in the French Alps during the week, but I am trying to travel and see as much of Europe as I can on weekends and the occasional week off.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I want to meet people in cities that I've yet to travel to. I've tried Airbnb and hostels, but Couchsurfing seems like a better alternative. Getting to know someone who knows the city is ideal, and my best travel experiences have come from those sorts of relationships. Friendships are very important to me, so I associate travel experiences friends I spent time with in those places. Couchsurfing seems like the best way to make friends and thus make each travel experience a positive one.

I'm also trying to learn French, and staying with French speakers would help out tremendously, but I'm open to meeting people from all backgrounds and cultures.

Music, Movies, and Books

Bob Dylan is my favorite musician. I also love indie rock, jazz, blues, and hip hop. I used to play in an indie band during school, but (thankfully) no original material has survived.
I love classic literature (Tolstoy, Joyce, Dostoevsky), but will read anything good that you recommend.
I'm trying to get into French film while I'm here. Any suggestions?

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have a pet wolf! Less a thing I've done, and more of just an interesting fact, but he's pretty cool. His name is Titan.

Teach, Learn, Share

I play the guitar (poorly), so happy to teach you that if you happen to have one. I also happen to be able to cartwheel pretty well for a person of my size, so we might throw that in the mix.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm always down for an adventure and am a fun person to explore with. I've traveled a bit and have a unique set of experiences in the US. I have some pretty interesting stories, one in particular involving a storm, a car accident, and a governor, but I'll save it for in person. I'm very clean, and I can cook (just a couple of meals) pretty well. Happy to do that when I stay with you.
