About Me
CURRENT MISSION
I hope one day the world becomes more connected physically, rather than this electronic madness we've been breeding.
ABOUT ME
After three years in Europe, I decided I didn't know enough about my own country and headed home. I spent some time in Melbourne before moving out bush. Right now, I live on the Anangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara Lands - where's that, you say? If you've heard of Uluru (Ayers Rock) then just head south a 100km or so and you've got my town. It's an Aboriginal community. If you're heading out here, then there's a couch for you - but it's pretty hard to get access to.
As for me, I'm a teacher although the job does not the man make. I'm a student in what spare time I have. I'm a lover of knowledge, culture - both high and low. I like to talk topics that are taboo. I'm inclined to enjoy a drink or three and I love discovering new places.
PHILOSOPHY
Vivir la utopia!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
One day this tall lanky German gent rang my doorbell, that's when it started...
Interests
I (in hindsight - unfortunately) stumbled across anarchism and in turn, the Spanish Civil War. It's proving to wreak an obsessive destruction across everything I do. It could even be a life obsession. Not sure if that's a good thing.
Took a liking to making curries recently too. Those delicious spices cooking up a storm in your kitchen, warm scents spreading through out the house. The fire on your tongue. Ah, curry.
The beloved Port Power. The only Australian football team worth paying any attention to.

Music, Movies, and Books
Bookwise, I'm partial to the Beats - Burroughs and the like. Bukowski stirs my soul as does Camus. Escapism is fine on occasion and my father interred me with a love of Tolkien - though L'Engle's dystopias are equally as interesting. I like history from below, fiery politics, passion and determination - sprinkled with a touch of the absurd.
Filmwise, I'd lean towards the arthouse, the bleak, the sad... but that doesn't mean I won't watch just about anything. Embarrasingly, I have an unhealthy enjoyment of Sandra Bullock films. I know. They're terrible.
I like music that is real, uncontrived, articulate, furious, gracious, determined and independent. It all began as a young Nirvana fan - with the idea that punk was attitude, and not style or sound. Right now, my flirtations lie with hip hop - Aesop Rock has been a steady obsession; Wale's mixtape about nothing was a recent rediscovery. I wish I had my stereo though.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
The Alhambra. The sound of water trickling through every square inch of that structure. Staring up into the heavens with the holy word carved at your feet. Gazing out of windows once seen through by Washington Irving at the gypsy caves of Granada opposite.
Los Picos de Europa covered in snow. Tiny villages clinging onto cliff faces like their life dependent on it. Deep snow covering trees and fields until it appears more like Narnia than Asturias. Mountain goats leading their kids across steep streams. If I could buy a house there, I think I would.
Claim to fame: I once taught the winner of Croatian Pop Idol. She didn't really need English classes. And a Saudi prince who wasn't afraid to lose a lot of money in casinoes.
