About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To produce a graphic Couch Surfing Travelogue

ABOUT ME

I am a part time cartoonist, part time student. I am currently studying to get my undergraduate degree in journalism, so I can move on to do a masters in cartooning.

You can see some of my cartoons at http://www.swannynook.com

I am sometimes shy, sometimes outgoing, but always ready for fun. It's just sometimes, fun means going out with frends, and sometimes fun means sitting down with tea or coffee and a good book.

PHILOSOPHY

I was a very picky eater as a child, but about a year ago I made an agreement with myself to "try everything once".

I made this agreement after witnessing something that horrified me beyond anything else. I was sitting in a Japanese restaurant with my mother. A man in his forties and his wife came in and sat at the table next to ours. They stared at their menus for a few minutes. When a waitress walked over to them and asked if she could take their order, they simply handed her the menus and said "I'm sorry, we don't understand...". The menus were in English. This man and his wife were so afraid to try something new that they missed out on this amazing, delicious food.

I'm never going to let that happen to me.

In most respects I am very open minded, and pretty liberal. I don't drink or drug. This isn't for any religious or moral reason (I am an atheist), I just don't enjoy the experience.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am hoping to go couch surfing this summer across Europe.
While travelling I hope to keep a comic book diary. I would really love to collect enough amazing experiences on my travels to complete my first full length graphic novel. I plan for it to be an account of my participation in the Irish rite of passage; inter railing.

Maybe when I move away from home I can host as well.

I think that couch surfing would really contribute to a better book, and a much more enjoyable trip.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

None yet. I hope to start my first couch surfing trip within the next few weeks.

Interests

I am a very big fan of film. I love reading books and comics of all genres.

I love drawing and writing more than anything else.

I love to eat new and weird foods. I will try anything once, but if I don't like it, then I won't always give t a second chance.
