ABOUT ME

Randomfacts: My lastname is "Paradise", i grew up in a city called "Happytown" and i was born on a sunday.

Other than that, I am a friendly, easygoing guy, who is interested in getting to know people from different countries all over the world. I like traveling, visiting (or organizing) cultural events, learn new languages, exploring countries and cultures. I have a big passion for music, listen to it as much as i can, play the guitar, sing along (although both not very well ;)) and am sometimes a DJ for private or club events. I also have a passion for football, love to play since many years (mainly indoor) and support German Clubs Borussia Dortmund and FC St. Pauli.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I try my best to be a nice guest or a nice host and depending on my current location, i try to be active in the community to find people with same interests to share experiences, hang out, do stuff together. I think this a really good opportunity to meet new, interesting people and one of the best ways of traveling.

Interests

As mentioned, i love music, it's a big part of my life. I have studied cultural studies with a focus on music and cultural organization + digital media and now i am doing my master in culture & media management.

One big passion of mine are music festivals, i used to work on 5-8 every summer. I've actually lost count, but i guess it must be between 30-40 festivals i've attented (some several times, maybe around 10 different ones)

I also love traveling and meeting up with friends or getting to know new people. Im interested in sports (especially football) and also play a lot myself.

I also love games of all sorts, reading, relaxed nights at home as well as days and weeks camping, exploring, being on music festivals (as mentioned), concerts, sometimes clubs. Other than that i'm quite into multimedia technique and everything involving it.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'd say my biggest interest is Rock Music, but i also like and listen to a lot of other stuff, which is impossible to mention in a list. I don't really follow the mainstream, hence i am not a lot into Pop and Electronic Music, though i like some sorts.

I claim for myself to be open to anything, that comes across my way and i don't like people judging others for their likes of music or culture in general. If i like the tune i'll listen to it, not important if it's eg. Lady Gaga, Metallica, Bob Marley or ABBA. There is such a big variety of music and neither could i nor would i want to focus strictly on one kind.

About movies: I love Fantasy like Lords of the Rings, Star Trek, also Harry Potter and others. Also i like a good comedy or action movie, but many are too americanized. I like Trash, i like Tarantinos style, i love concert films - as u might realize, i am a widely interested person in that way ;). I enjoy short movies as well and was sometimes involved in shooting and production.

About Books im mainly also into Fantasy and Crime Stories. I enjoy stories of Dan Brown, Markus Heitz, J. K. Rowling, J. R. R. Tolkien or Eoin Colfer, just to name a few.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Jumping out of a plane in 4500m height + few days earlier canyon-swinging twice (being hung over a canyon once upside down and the other time jumping backwards) - done in Wanaka and Queenstown, New Zealand

Most amazing of it all: Having traveled 10% of the world already - 90% to go ;)

Teach, Learn, Share

I know quite a lot about multimedia and computer stuff (not always the latest though) and i'm always willing to help out, if somebody is having an issue.

My other big knowledge base is regarding music, especially all sorts of bands and songs from the 50s till 2000s. Sometimes i spend hours reading wiki articles about bands, artists, songs ...

Oh yeah, and football - i am a little dictionary about that, as probably many guys are ;).
