About Me
CURRENT MISSION
It started with a book "100 big Cities around the World" and our mission was to fullfill the book with our pics in these places. And to travel around the world for the second and third time (the third one was with our new born daughter, which made the travel even more special). Now it's time for the fourth one. Still planning.
ABOUT ME
Just finished our third travel around the world and starting to recover after a career break.
More about us: Nina used to travel as a hitch-hiker and sailor for several years. She's an enthusiastic photographer, a tango dancer and an aspiring writer.
Lukas was born in Poland and moved to Germany as a kid in 1989 (he was thrown over the berlin wall :) An easygoing guy, who loves fun and traveling, soccer, history and politics (in small measures).
Nina is a management consultant and Lukas is working for a German airline (the one with a yellow crane on their planes), which helps a little to travel around the world and stay spontaneous when booking our flights :) But in all the free time we just travel, talk with people and see the world.
Starting with the second travel, we were writing a travel blog (www.jetlagstory.com) - Nina in Polish and Lukas in German, so if you speak one of the languages you can can get a flavour of the way we see the world. It's not complete as we prefer to travel than to document it, but enjoy the pics.
PHILOSOPHY
Live cools down - and - do as you would be done by.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
with our couch :) and travel stories from over sixty countries ;)
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
we hosted a lot of people and the time we had with them was just great. we love to learn about the different cultures and places from the people who're living there and let know their everyday life. the CS gives you that possibility. this is what traveling is about, isn't it?
Interests
Lukas: Football (for US: Soccer :), surfing, skiing, history (esp. World Wars), technical stuff, fixing my old BMW, traveling around the world :)
Nina: history of art and culture (it's a genetic disease in her case), photography (as above), argentinian tango and good books or movies. During the travels also scuba diving, skydiving and all other extreme ways to explore the world.
Music, Movies, and Books
Nina: The list would be long :) I always return to "Zorba" by Nikos Kazantzakis and Kapuscinski's essays. Last months I'm addicted to Murakami. I like movies made by Chereau, Lynch and Tykwer, sometimes Greenaway and Kieslowski.
Lukas: Historical romans i.e. Konstantin Simonov's war-trilogy (The Living and the Dead, They are not born Soldiers; The last summer) or E.M. Remarques "All Quiet on the Western Front". Any kind of music...but no techno!
Movies? hmm...my favourite is still "Rain Man" - wonderful movie. Sometimes old polish series (60's / 70's) about the WW2 Period and sci-fi series (like BSG, Torchwood, Doctor Who)
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Don't ask. It was forbidden :)
Teach, Learn, Share
Nina can tell you a lot about international tax law, but the good news is you don't have to hear it :) she's good at risk Management, process planning, strategic thinking and helping people to start their own business.
Let us know if need some help with fixing technical stuff (computers, laptops, PDAs, mobiles, BMW cars - e30 model) - Lukas just loves it.
