About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Love, see, and change the world

ABOUT ME

I'm a professional activist, a sometime actor, and a novice gardener and home brewer. I love Austin and really love all the magical swimming holes in the Texas Hill Country.

I was an army brat and have been fortunate to live in a lot of cool places - Germany, Kenya, England, Alabama (it's actually a pretty great place). My parents have lived in Mexico for 17 years and I try to get down to explore different parts of the country as often as I can (I once had a wild encounter with Zapatistas in Chiapas).

I'm really interested in politics and working for social change. I love to listen to NPR, read the newspaper and many other news sources and then talk about (and occasionally do something about) what's happening in the world with my friends.

I'm rather fond of black licorice, marzipan, gummi bears, arugula and Topo Chico.

My 8 year old son lives with me and my wife half the time and we're having grand adventures. One recent weekend we played freeze tag in the park, saw a children's theater production at the Long Center, hit the farmer's market, went to a friend's potluck, rode our bikes around the eastside (that's where I live), and went swimming at deep eddy.

I was a theater (and poli sci) major in college and have done a few shows since then (most recently stage versions of The Princess Bride and Ghostbusters).

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've hosted about 15 times (all very cool people) and surfed two couches (in Brooklyn and Houston). Travelling is so much more fun and rewarding when the locals share their inside tips. I love passing on what I know about Austin and opening up my home to world travelers.
