About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To explore the world in all its variety and to meet the people that have ensured the continuance and diversity of their cultures.

ABOUT ME

I am a classicist with a strong sense of adventure. I love to test my self in new environments and meat new people with interesting stories to tell. I very much enjoy studying Latin and Ancient Greek, alongside modern languages such as Spanish. . I tend towards socialism and would love to play a role in government some day.

PHILOSOPHY

I do not believe necessarily that all people are born evil (original sin) - instead I often choose to accept the view that it is what people do and what they are exposed that defines them. This is not to say that there does not exist within some people a tendency towards a particular behaviour but rather that that behaviour can be heavily influenced by society.
I believe in tolerance and diversity - diversity makes the world a fascinating place in which to live and for that to be destroyed by some sort of mono-culture would be a dreadful thing. Further, in a world where diversity is everywhere present tolerance must be emphasised as expressed by Voltaire "I detest what you say but will defend to the death your right to say it", in order to ensure a society in which people harmoniously debate with one another and recognise the Right of each and every person to express their own views no matter how heinous.

I believe that the world is about to undergo a rapid system of change - new leaders, new super powers and several multinational problems have ensured this. People will have to drastically change their lives to accommodate these changes which will eventually ensure a more balanced degree of prosperity for all.

Interests

I collect all sorts of literature be that old or fairly recent. I very much enjoy cooking, and would love to diversify my skills through the people I meet. I am a cyclist, a tennis player and a squash player - I enjoy playing golf here at St Andrews.

Music, Movies, and Books

The Oristeia rules alongside Euripides' Hippolytus and The Bacchae. The Aeneid is the "stateliest measure ever molded by the lips of man" - Tennyson.
Too many good films have I watched to pick one which is particularly fantastic but that said I did very much enjoy Blood Diamond and The Dark Knight.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

A life should not be defined by single events, little acts of bravery, courage and kindness each day ought to be the means by which distribute greatness to individuals.
