About Me

CURRENT MISSION

One life.... live it

ABOUT ME

Born and bred in the town Gillingham, in the county Kent (South East of London). Spent 18 glorious years there before being shipped to Birmingham to study geography at university. Have always loved being outdoors, and i think this sparked my interest in the natural world.
I spent 3 years studying Geography as a batchelor, left university still clueless as to what i wanted to do. I wanted one more year at uni before life got serious, and so went and found an interesting Masters course... aka Hydrogeology. 6 months in the classroom was followed by a 6 month internship in Cape Town at one of their leading consultancies which was an awesome and worthwhile experience. When i got back from South Africa, within a few weeks was offered a job in Perth Australia as a hydrogeologist working as part of the support team for our Mongolian office. Well 15 months later brings us to present day, and my time has come for a secondment to the Mongoatlian office. As i write this i am currently sitting at the airport waiting for my flight to Mongolia. I will live and work in the office in the capital Ulaanbaatar for at least a year, if not longer. Its going to be an amazing experience, and one i cant wait to get started!!!!

PHILOSOPHY

"Live every day like its your last"
"Dont let an opportunity pass you by"
"Try and live outside your comfort zone, its the best 20 seconds of madness ever!!!!"

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have spent a long time out of the Couchsurfing game and eager to get back involved. I wont have time to surf as much as i used to due to not being a student anymore, and having a full time job.... but very eager to host and meet a load new people that way instead!
Also hoping to get some sort of weekly couchsurfing meet up going in town. I started one in Birmingham and within a couple of weeks was 20 strong! I really cant wait to get very actively involved again! Eeeek im so excited!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

First heard of couchsurfing during my first year of university. I have hosted plenty of people whilst in Birmingham, and have travelled extensively and couchsurfed all over eastern and northern europe, and met some of the most craziest, but fantastic people who i still share lasting friendships with!
Second year of uni i started a weekly meet in Birmingham and it went from 1 to 20 strong in a matter of weeks and we had some of the best times ever, and helped get to know the local town better too. I know Mongolia is not so big for CS'ing, but would be very keen on starting something similar here too!

Interests

Soccer - Eat, Sleep, Breath, Love Soccer! It is my favourite sport by far and love to play and watch soccer. I play left back usually, and im proper hard when i play, so any soft footed strikers or wingers out there better beware!
I love learning new languages and new instruments, but have been wholly unsuccessful to date. About time i got my act together and learnt a new skill i could pass onto others!
PS. Biggest thing i love though is anything social! I love getting to know new people, and learning all about their own culture as i think it helps to open our eyes and see the world in a new way.... can only make us better people for it!
PPS. I love to party too! Spend many weekends in pubs watching soccer and tucking away a few beers, probably followed by some god awful food, and then onto a dodgey nightclub or two!

Music, Movies, and Books

Will Ferrel... YOU.ARE.A.GOD! Bring on Anchorman 2! As you can see i absolutely love any Big Will films, both of the Ferrel, and Smith variety. Comedies galore as i love a good laugh!
Although i can be a sucker for a rom com every now and a again too.... but shhhh.... you didnt hear me say that!
Music - I have a wide taste of music, and really depends on what sort of mood i am in to what sort of genre i play. I love chilled relaxed acoustic hits from John Mayer, Jack Johnson and Jason Mraz etc... but then when i party, or in a hyper mood, i love nothing more than to put some dance or some dnb on, to rave and go crazy!
Although having said that... my favourite song of all time is "First Day of your life" by Bright Eyes. The lyrics are magical, and the video so thought provoking. Just cant beat it!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Seen someone enter this world (Birth) and seen someone i love leave this world (Death).

I have had plenty of cool activities and adventures which have been extremely fun and exhilirating... but the life/death cycle mentioned above really is an amazing thing as its a true life changing experience.

I have plenty of stories, and adventures i have been on. It makes me one interesting chappy!
