About Me

CURRENT MISSION

do something simple but useful for others

ABOUT ME

I am an easy-going and understanding person who enjoys interacting with people from diverse cultural backgrounds. I find it exciting to learn and share new and unique insights. I also run a blog where I write about various topics, including tips on behavior, dining, travel, and more in Indonesia. Feel free to visit my blog at www.lukmantanjung.wordpress.com.
PHILOSOPHY

your small action can mean big to someone else

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I enjoy socializing with people because it's always fun to learn and share experiences with them. I also teach English to children at my house, providing them with an opportunity to learn the language, similar to what other fortunate children might have. I love involving English-speaking guests in these classes to inspire and motivate the children to speak English. Most surfers who visit are very supportive of this activity.

In addition, I facilitate surfers who want to learn more about the Indonesian language. They are welcome to visit my office (a language center) to discuss with my colleagues or explore the office library. Surfers can also learn Indonesian informally at home with me or my friends. I have some experience teaching the Indonesian language, making it easier for them to adapt.

Moreover, I always offer surfers opportunities to participate in traditional ceremonies or local activities, giving them a chance to learn more about the unique culture and cuisine of Jambi.

Additionally, surfers are welcome to play or learn how to play tennis if they have some free time, making their stay even more enjoyable and active.
Lastly, surfers can also spend their time interacting, writing, and preparing their programs at a small coffee corner that I run with my friends, creating a cozy and creative atmosphere.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Gathering 50 children in the neighborhood to play fun games and interact with surfers.

Teach, Learn, Share

I offer surfers the opportunity to engage in interactive English classes with students from diverse age groups and economic backgrounds. This not only enhances their teaching experience but also provides valuable cultural exchanges. Additionally, I introduce them to the rich and exotic traditions of Jambi, such as cultural ceremonies for weddings, baby showers, and more, along with the unique flavors of traditional Jambi cuisine.

Surfers can also explore the city's historical treasures, like the ancient Muaro Jambi temple complex, as well as enjoy the breathtaking natural landscapes in the area. To make their stay even more enjoyable, I often invite surfers to participate in fun activities such as playing badminton, tennis, or swimming, adding a touch of recreation to their cultural experience.

What I Can Share with Hosts

In addition to providing rooms with various facilities (bed, table, bathroom, towels, and air conditioning), I also invite surfers to interact with my students, visit some of the interesting spots around Jambi, and indulge in the delightful local culinary experiences the city has to offer.
