Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Hosting people from everywhere in the world. Sharing a part of my social life and sharing some fun hobbies with them. When I am available, I try to show around to my dear fellow couch surfers.
When I travel, I also enjoy sharing some piece or path of life with my hosts. Then, I can learn more about their culture and I also try to learn their language.
I also organize some diners or parties with some local couch surfers and also with people out of couchsurfing ;-)

However I really think that couch surfing should not be considered as a social network. Why? Because when I host people, I would like them to meet also my friends out of couch surfing. In fact, if all your friends are couch surfers and you host other couch surfers, it feels like it s a sect, right?

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

A Lot of good experiences since 2004 and it is still going on. I had great exchanges with my hosts and my guests...Thank you for everything ;-) I want to learn more about everybody on earth and keep the feeling you have when you discover something new!
At the beginning, I was a poor student, travelling with my back pack all around the US on the bus. Today, I have a nice job and I can afford nice hotels.
Nevertheless, even staying in the best hotel room will never be like discovering somebody else's life in the other side of the world ;-). Sharing a local restaurant that you would never find by your self, hanging out and joking with locals, discovering the hidden spots, that is what couch surfing is about.

Interests

I like to do many things, from the more important to the less important, :-):

1- Sport: As I am a hard worker It's crucial for me to keep fit. Surfing, running, swimming, and fitness club are a big help for this. I have also just started golfing.
2- Cooking: For the last tow years, I have focused on cooking bio and healthy food. I really like to cook with local products as we have high quality fish, fruits and vegetables.

3-Sailing and diving: As I am living on an island, I have started diving and sailing courses.

4- Photography: I have started 15 years ago on the classical film camera of my father. I have bought my first digital camera last year. I am currently setting some art studio works.
5- Writing: every morning I try to write one page, at the moment I am focusing on poetry.
6- Learning new languages
7- Salsa: Every week I have one hour salsa course
