About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Exploring science + creating art = working, reading, writing and as always & above all: LOVING MIHI :D
ABOUT ME
"If at first the idea is not absurd, then there is no hope for it."
We are two freaks and soulmates, madly in love and insane. I am Luka Katic, Master of Economics from Serbia, graduate student of Cognitive Science at the University of Vienna and DPhil student of University of Oxford.
My beloved Mihi, Mihaela Mitrovic, is a Master of Architecture and a graduate student of Cognitive Science at University of Vienna, and a research assistant in Neuroscience and AI at University of Oxford, so we are lovers and fellow scientists!
Because we need to spend every minute together, we are constantly working on making that possible. It takes a lot of sacrifice and an unconventional lifestyle but it's the only way we can bear to live. I can live without air or food but not away from my Mihi.
Currently: After our 'honeymonths' of travelling throughout Europe :) we were living in Vienna for almost two years and going to school together! :D
Now we live in Oxford.
PHILOSOPHY
People are good!!!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
We host even when we are out of the country- if someone just needs a place to stay, we give them the keys to our place and simply help a fellow human.
We are not attention-starved and/or insecure and will not judge you if you just want to stay over and not hang out with us as much. The idea is called 'couchsurfing', not 'soulsucking', so we are not offended if someone just wants a free bed. Frankly, all of those who cry about community standards and the idea of CS are missing the point: hospitality! Being good WITHOUT a reward! Whereas they just want to get paid, whether it's with money or with attention, same thing.
I mean, it's pretty simple: BE GOOD. :)
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
The very idea of basically unknown people being kind to each other for no reason other than to help another human being is enough to restore one's faith in humanity (I never lost mine in the first place).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Luka: Worked in NYC as a mover, visited a home in Mississippi where the owner had 10 guns per room (why? Zombie invasion?), saw Mihaela
Mihaela: Worked in Jerusalem in a zoo, got bitten by a snake (on purpose!), ran 5-day marathons and 24h marathons, danced on stage with Iggy Pop
I believe that it is more important to experience things than merely to see them or read about them.
I am all for a real, dirty and exciting adventurous experience a la Bear Grylls than anything else.
