About Me
These are always awkward so here goes nothing...
I have the memory span of a fish and a terrible taste in music. I can't dance but that hardly stops me. When I sing (which is far too often) it's off key and I forget half the lyrics. I tried drawing manga and thought I'd be an animator, until I realized you actually have to be good at it. When I was five I dreamed I'd be a cap-wearing, hot trucker chick yet I never learned how to drive. Somehow I ended up being an English teacher and I'm decent at it (I work well with kids because I am one). My greatest talent is finding out how utterly untalented I am. I fall in love with defects and I'm always late.
Becoming a chatterbox filled to the brim with terrible jokes is my niche. I like making people smile, even if it's at my own expense (ask my students). I was brought up between cultures (I spent most of my childhood and pre-adolescent years in the USA) so I'm pretty sure I suffer from some form of diaspora.
I don't have a plan, short or long term, and am incapable of finishing most things I start. I believe in spontaneity yet fear the unknown. The irony isn't lost on me. I can't find more ways to describe myself without starting with "I..."
As for my flaws, I'm still trying to find them.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I want to have authentic experiences with people. That's the generic response. The reality is that I believe in the kindness of strangers and want to be a part of a community where culture, borders, languages and money don't hinder people from experiencing the world.

Music, Movies, and Books
I've just kind of decided that I have no taste buds where music is concerned. Same goes for movies. And books.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
After years of refusing to teach due to my own insecurities, I ended up applying for a position in remote English teaching and got hired. I spent all year conversing with wonderful teens from Uruguay, teaching them how to properly communicate and in exchange they gifted me love, happiness and smiles to last a lifetime. They showed me that distance and language barriers are not limiting where love is concerned and taught me the beauty of teaching.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach English and Spanish and how to pour some mean mates. I can't teach you how to dance but I can show you how not to.
As for learning, I'm a sponge. I love to absorb everything anyone is willing to offer; from languages to recipes to mottos...anything is welcome!
Sharing long talks or long silences, experiences and food. Part of learning is exchanging and I'm happy to share time and space with people!
